The SFSA "Support Our Sport" (SOS) Initiative is Launching!*
To our incredible community of over 72,000 members: when Salt Fishing South Africa was started, it was built on a shared passion for our oceans, responsible angling, and protecting our marine resources.
Over the years, SFSA has also become a massive platform for businesses to market their services for free. We love supporting the industry, but we believe this massive audience can achieve something far greater.
We are officially transitioning SFSA from a free-advertising space into a charity-driven access model (Pay-to-Play). Moving forward, commercial entities will be required to make a direct annual contribution to our verified conservation partners to unlock advertising privileges in this group.
100% of these funds go directly to the charities. SFSA and BigFishMedia handle zero money.

We are proud to partner with two incredible organisations who will also be joining our admin team to share vital research, updates, and content with you:
1. ORI Tag (Oceanographic Research Institute).
2. The Coastal Marine Task Force

The Tiered Contribution Model (Annual):
Community Members: Private, second-hand, and non-commercial sales remain 100% FREE.
Tier 1: Professional Fishing Guides & Charter Operators– R1,000
Tier 2: Lodges & Accommodation – R2,500
Tier 3: Retailers & Local Tackle Shops – R5,000
Tier 4: Distributors, Wholesalers & Agencies– R10,000.
The Grace Period:
We are granting a grace period from now until the end of August. If you run a business and want to keep posting your commercial content here, please support the sport that feeds your business.
How to unlock your auto posting rights:
1. Make your direct tier donation to either ORI Tag or the Coastal Marine Task Force (we will pin bank details and reference formats in the "Featured" section).
2. Email your Proof of Payment (POP) to [email protected].
3. Once verified, our admin team will log your business, approve your posts, and feature your logo on our new Group Cover Photo.
From 1 September, all commercial posts from unverified businesses will be automatically declined.
