As you may have noticed, the Sedgeview site has been re-opened. Discussions between the landowner and the “Eden Flyers Club”, who maintain and oversee the site, are not yet finalized completely. However, in consideration of the onset of the “tourist season” and the impact that closure of the site may have on the commercial tandem operators, the site has been opened on a provisional basis. The deadline for the finalisation of various requirements in terms of the use-agreement has been set for the 30th November to allow access to the site in the meantime. This period has been confirmed by the Eden Flyers Club as adequate to address the outstanding requirements and thereby avoid closure of the site post the 30th November.
Please note that there is now a fence to provide a restricted launch and take-off area. No persons other than SAHPA registered pilots or persons specifically requested to enter this area by Commercial Tandem Operator (and with whom Indemnity has been signed), may enter this area in the event of ANY flying activity.
Please also note: The property to the east of the Sedgeview site (Kammas Kamma), experiences considerable problems with dust kicked-up from the road by vehicles travelling at any speed other than dead-slow. Please consider this and reduce your speed to DEAD-SLOW, and/or reprimand others that don’t! The Eden Flyers Club have been instructed to ensure that offenders are asked to leave the site immediately.
Also, please be aware that absolutely NO SMOKING is permitted on the site or the immediately surrounding properties – for obvious reasons! Any person who fails to comply will be told to leave the site immediately.
