How to enter: Only online: www.sparticus.co.za. Entries Close: 20 August @ 14:00 No entries after this time will be accepted! Tournament Format: 5 Round Swiss Time Control: 45:45 + 15 second increment per move from move 1.
Tournament Sections: Section A: Rating of 1 000+ or Unrated players born in 2004 and before. ection B: Rating of 500 to 999 or Unrated players born in 2005 and after.
Entry Fee R 75.
Prize money will be paid into the winner's bank account. Winners will be contacted after the tournament for their banking details. Proof of payment to be mailed to [email protected] before 16:00 on Friday 21 August!

The organizers reserve the right to combine sections or make changes. Please note: Players can play in higher sections if preferred! Players will be entered into the correct section according to their rating if entered into a lower section. Players entered into higher sections will be entered into the section selected.
Times: Round 1: 8:30 - 10:40. Rounds 2 to 5 will start 10 minutes after the finish of the previous round. Default Time: Players with the White pieces must "Challenge" their opponents 2 minutes before the start of the round.
Playing Conditions: (a) The following tiebreaks will be used for players ending on the same score: 1. Direct Encounter 2. Greater Number of Wins 3. Greater Number of Games with Black 4. Bucholz Cut 1. (b) The player/guardian gives consent that the name, surname, gender, race, date of birth be submitted to the rating agencies for the purposes of rating, and the rating agencies displaying it on their respective websites. (c) Any person found guilty of cheating will forfeit any prize money and will be banned from future Sparticus tournaments.
How will the tournament work? (a) Join the Tournament Team op Lichess AFTER you have PAID for this tournament. (b) Please join the tournament WhatsApp Group: https://chat.whatsapp.com/GSOXCCJ0O7qH2KYYaltn7Z (c) Once you have been accepted to the Lichess Tournament Team you will receive the link to your Section WhatsApp Group. You will also receive an instruction document on how to play in the tournament (on this group). (d) Pairings will be published on the Section WhatsApp Group. (e) The arbiters reserved the right to repair players in the first round due to no-show of opponents. (f) All FIDE rules apply. (g) All accepted players must be logged in no later 8:15. (h) Players must not get assistance of any sort – we expect fair play and honesty from all players and to use their own ability. (i) Cheating is monitored by Lichess.org. (j) FIDE sanctions for cheating or breaching the "Fair Play Policy" are: (1) A ban of 15 years taking part in a chess competition or in any chess-related activity and; (2) Revocation of titles and sport results. (k) These sanctions could be enforced by Chess SA and we will report any suspicious behaviour. PLAY FAIR!
VERY IMPORTANT: Before the tournament starts players will have to update their Lichess Profile with their real name (in Given name and Last name section), Chess SA ID (in Biography section) as a requirement from CHESS SA in order for them to Rate all our future tournaments.
