SARMAF is an affiliated member in good standing with MASA. We are a small organization formed in 2012 with the blessings of SASCOC.
SARMAF caters for non WKF Organizations. Although we are smaller than KSA, WUKF and other organizations it is not relevant to us as we have the power through MASA and SASCOC to issue National Colours to our top athletes representing South Africa at top rated World Championships through MASA and TAFISA.
We are an honest organization with our vision and mission to promote Martial Arts on fair playground for all styles and or organizations.
Since our acceptance by MASA and SASCOC we have presented numerous SA Chpampionships on National Level, furthermore, competed at the TAFISA World Games, 2014, hosted in Ridgemond Canada and returned home with 33 medals, 16 Gold, and we recieved recognition by SASCOC and an article were published in the SASCOC Sporting Magazine.
In 2016 we also won numerous medals during the WMAGC that was hosted in South Africa.
We as SARMAF annualy compete at the ARNOLD CLASSIC EVENT and will do so again in 2022 if MASA attends this prestigious event.
SARMAF will also attend an planned International World Championship later in 2022.
We respect all governing bodies but by choise, due to much un-ethical hitory with other controling bodies, we have no interest to get involved with organizations and or styles unless by our choise and correct protocol.
Since our establishment in 2012 we have never acted in anyway to go against the memorandum signed with SASCOC and MASA in 2012, thus always honouring the MOU as set forward by MASA and SASCOC.
Furthermore do we act on our South African Freedom of Association as per our SA Constitution.
SARMAF is a good organization to belong to honouring our variuos organization/style lineage.

Elias Jacobs Hanshi started karate in February 1970 in the Shukokai Karate Style. He was graded to 4th Dan by Grand Master Sigeru Kimura the international Chief Instructor who resided in America.
He joined Ryushinkan Karate under the international Chief Instructor Takeshi Masuyama Hanshi, who graded him to 6th and 7th Dan.
Elias was the General Secretary of KSA, the Treasurer and Secretary General of Zone 6 Karate Federation. He was an athlete and later a national referee, African referee and a WKF Kumite Judge.
He was the Secretary for the Dispute and Ethics Committee of SASCOC.
In 2018 Elias founded his own organization Chi Jin Karate International with branches in India, Sri Lanka, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Bangladesh and South Africa.

Karate without Boudaries look at the career of James Vermaak - Hanshi

James Vermaak 10th Dan Hanshi is the Chief Instructor of World Sansei Koryu Goju Ryu Karate Organisation in South Africa.

He started is Karate career in 1970 at the age of 6 years in the Shotokan Style under the leadership of Dick Cloete Sensei. He was graded to First Degree Black in 1984 by Ben Du Preez Shihan. He is now currently with Manny Saavegra (Kaicho) the International Chief Instructor of the WSGK and Kobudo organisation.

Saavedra, Sensei, himself a direct student under the late Peter Urban, Sensei, founder of USAGA and opened the famous China Town Dojo in New York. Urban Sensei was a direct student under the late Gogen Yamaguchi, Sensei, Mas Oyama Sensei and Richard Kim, Sensei.

He trained with various instructors over the years and is a very open minded person. He was also a serious competitor and won numerous medals. He was awarded 10th Dan in (Hanshi Title) by Kaicho Manny Saaved. James Vermaak (Hanshi) is the President of South African Ryu Kyu Martial Arts Federation (SARMAF) and The Alliance South Africa Goju-Ryu Association (ASAGA). He staged many elite events over the years with the Arnold Classic Tournament as one of the highlights.
He is also a:
* 7th Dan in Karate Kai Goju-Ryu
* 7th Dan in IS Kickboxing
* 6th Dan in WAKO Kickboxing
* 5th Dan in Goju Jitsu
* 3rd Dan in Full Circle Jujitsu

He has branches in five (5) provinces and his organisation is still growing bigger. He held many positions in karate provincially and nationally. He is currently inviting other senior instructors to share their knowledge and experiences with his members. He is only interested to see the youth reach their goals and to contribute positively to their upbringing. May James Hanshi continue to grow from strength to strength.

Budo is the way we should strive to live our life through Karate Do as to how we train and how we teach.
Following the way of Bushido will develop us in the way's of the old Masters way of Karate Do and the Way of the styles and organizations they found and developed it through ages of time from one generation to the next.
We must however through our own understanding develop our own methods and teach this to our members so that they fully can develop their own understanding in a level of self onlightment with the Enbusen that remains true to the basic foundation as by organization and or style, not moving away from the basic foundation that is purpose to a spesific style, method and or organozation as intended by the founder in their own ways that brought forward specific style, method and or organization.
