Boost Immunity Naturally, Responsibly. The Garlic Challenge.

Feeling a little stressed by COVID19?
Shelves looking like ours (next pic) and running out of well, everything, including immunity boosters such as vitamin C amidst the COVID19 crisis.

In tough times, of scarcity, panic buying and fear we need to look to alternate solutions. Indeed we should have always looked to these as a first stop not a last. Nature has for centuries provided us with a number of things that we needed to assist us in staying healthy and PREVENTING sickness and illness in the first place.

Garlic has been used for centuries as a natural immunity booster. Garlic contains compounds that help the immune system fight germs. Whole garlic contains key compounds amongst others Allicin, Aliin. It is also super easy to grow so why buy it ?

Grab yourself a bulb ... just one or two ! Leave some for others, for this to work we all need to be part of the solution, not just a select few. Can you get seeds ? Even better ! Using the links below go ahead educate yourselves, plant your own. Going into winter or live in an apartment ? Grab a pot. Going onto summer PERFECT. Remember you can also dry it and store it for future scarce times.

By planting your own, you are creating an abundant supply...by buying it you are creating additional use for packaging, transportation, pesticides and pollution. Yes itโ€™s the small things, to help ourselves and our planet to recover from this crisis. Letโ€™s aim to be self sufficient instead of relying on manufacturing and mass production.

Yoga is for everyone, athletes included. Yoga works on strength, flexibility, balance, agility, endurance, core, and overall strength, among other things. Any athlete could benefit hugely by adding yoga to his or her training regimen. Here's more details on a few of the perks: ๐Ÿ‘‡

โ˜‘๏ธ Strength: No amount of weight-lifting with free weights will give you the strength that consistently holding up your own body weight will.

โ˜‘๏ธ Flexibility: Practicing yoga increases flexibility and ease of movement, therefore increasing range of motion. In particular, athletes in sports that require swinging action (tennis, golf, etc.) can benefit greatly. Flexibility in general also helps to prevent injury.

โ˜‘๏ธ Balance: Balancing poses in yoga improve overall balance in everything you do, preventing falls and injury. When you learn how to be soft and go with the flow, you can more easily bend and are less likely to break or fall over.

โ˜‘๏ธ Endurance: The endurance that the ease of yoga gives you lends to endurance sports like running, triathlons, and Iron Mans. When you learn to tune into your body and mind, everything can be a meditation-sports included. Yoga also helps you learn how to pace yourself: slow and steady, in it for the long haul.

Research has shown the benefits of adopting a more organic lifestyle over the conventional one that is the staple of most people in the western world. ๐Ÿƒ

Here's 4 easy steps you can take to embracing more organic-driven habits on a daily basis. ๐Ÿ‘‡

๐ŸŒฟ Start with staples
Food is surely one of the joys of life and consuming food that you have lovingly prepared from garden to table is a great motivator and eye-opener when it comes to seeing exactly what you put in your mouth. So start with replacing some of your daily or weekly grocery items with more natural alternatives -- lots of fresh fruits and vegetables, prepared as soon as possible after purchase, free range (or preferably organic) eggs from happy hens, free range meat sources if you can locate a producer who provides quality of life for his stock, olive oil and coconut oil that is cold pressed and not subject to chemical extraction processes -- these are some ideas to get you started.

๐ŸŒฟ Check out your local food producers
When you purchase your food from local producers, you are helping your local, regional and national economy. You are assisting your community to reduce green house gasses by cutting out the food miles that are incurred when produce is imported from countries half way around the world. You are helping someone in your community feed their own family by helping to provide an income and stability in their livelihood.

๐ŸŒฟ Visit farmers markets
Check out your local farmers markets. Get up close and personal with food producers in your area -- ask them about their produce, what is in season (and therefore at its best), what growing practices they use to bring the produce to market, what is their favorite way of enjoying it. If you don't have a farmers market close to you then seek out a local organic produce market or an organic produce delivery service.

๐ŸŒฟ Read your labels
Many food items that fill up the grocery cart these days are unrecognizable from what they began as in their raw state -- overly processed, any natural fats they may have started with stripped out and replaced by sugar that can cause addiction, obesity, diabetes and a host of other health and societal issues, and having a shelf life that could possibly outlive a nuclear holocaust -- this is what the majority of the population consumes as a matter of course.

The next time you're at the supermarket, take some time to read the labels and the nutrition panel. If the print is too small, then have your reading glasses with you -- it's an eye-opener, we promise! If there are any ingredients you don't recognize, then you've got to really ask "If I was preparing this at home from scratch, would I put that in?" ๐Ÿค”

Here's why meditation is the best thing you could be doing right now. ๐Ÿ™

๐Ÿ‘‰ Meditation literally grows your brainโ€ฆ both in volume and thickness. This doesnโ€™t just make you smarter; it increases your memory, attention, self-awareness and self-control alongside a whole list of other desirable qualities.
๐Ÿ‘‰ Meditation increases blood flow to your brainโ€ฆ the brain canโ€™t function without a strong steady flow of blood to it. The stronger and steadier the flow, the better the brain functions.
๐Ÿ‘‰ Meditation reduces cortisol production, a stress-induced hormone that suppresses the immune system and can make you feel anxious nervous and unsettled for no real reason (other than having too much cortisol in your system).
๐Ÿ‘‰ Meditation reduces blood pressure and heart rate, which alleviates unnecessary pressure on your heart and arteries.
๐Ÿ‘‰ Meditation increases neuroplasticity. This is the brains ability to organise itself, adapt to demands and enables you to become more efficient in the learning process.

If you're approaching a spring cleaning of your home this year, why not consider these effective all-natural cleaning alternatives? ๐Ÿ˜Š

๐Ÿ‹ Use Lemon.
Lemons are nature's cleaning wunderkind. They have powerful antiseptic and antibacterial properties and are a natural deodorizer due to their high acidic content.

๐Ÿ‹ Use Baking Soda.
Baking soda, like lemon, is another one of nature's cleaners. Also known as sodium bicarbonate, this mildly alkaline substance functions as a gentle abrasive, deodorant and more.

๐Ÿ‹ Clean your oven.
A thick paste of baking soda and water can be applied to the bottom of the oven to clean it. Let it sit for a couple of hours or overnight before scraping it off and wiping the surface.

๐Ÿ‹ Brighten the bowl.
Baking soda also is a winner in the bathroom. Throw a cup of baking soda into the toilet bowl and let it sit for more than an hour. Then add a cup of white vinegar, let the mixture sit for a while longer, and flush.

๐Ÿ‹ Safely clean your clothes.
Baking soda also is a great addition to your laundry room. When added to your washing machine, it can soften your clothes and remove any unpleasant odors.
