SASOG - rather late than never! Loved and appreciated this opportunity to speak alongside

Took a brief and sweet trip to cape town in August to speak at the South African society of Obstetrics and Gynecology Congress! What an opportunity and what a delight to hear pelvic health Physio being held in such high regard!

I am loving this profession more than ever before. It feels so good to be back to what I love, working with inspirational patients and connecting with powerful colleagues! The opportunities are endless and pelvic health is taking center stage as it deserves!

See you again next week CT for SASHA! šŸ’ƒ

World Sexual Health Day is a good reminder that health isn’t just physical - it’s also about feeling safe enough to communicate.

Communication is a skill, not a personality trait - and like any skill, it gets easier with practice (and sometimes professional guidance).

This year, let’s celebrating by starting conversations and asking questions. We are here for it!

Quickie notes from the physio room

A few things patients are often surprised to learn:

- Perineal massage isn’t just about stretching tissue.
Biofeedback, breathwork, anatomical awareness, and growing familiarity with your own body all shape our bodily experiences.
- Groin chafing with no visible skin changes isn’t always dermatological. Once skin causes are ruled out, it’s worth considering the pelvic nerves. Not a diagnosis - just a prompt to look further if the usual explanations don’t fit.
- Understanding your postpartum core and intra-abdominal pressure can build self-efficacy before you’ve done a single exercise. Confidence in how your body works, not muscle gain - that comes later.
- Hypermobility often shows up as pelvic floor tension. Not weakness. Tension.

If any of this sounds familiar, it’s worth a conversation with a pelvic health physio.

Happy weekend friends!!

With love for you and pelvic floors 🫶

Do you contort, wrap and twist your arms and legs to find comfort? And do you have pelvic health concerns?

This might be your little nudge to reach out to a pelvic health provider for an assessment.

For now:

Unravel
Unclench and
Take a deep breath

With love,

How foreign does it feel to be the recipient of care?

We try to stretch. Drink more water. Get enough sleep (ā€œsleep when the baby sleepsā€ right šŸ˜‚) to tick self care off the list.

But phew, it’s too easy to deprioritize ourselves with the demands we bear.

SKIN | FACIALS | PEELS | MICRONEEDLING | UMHLANGA treated this tired mama to a much needed facial curated to breastfeeding and sensitivity. (Yes you can still have a glorious facial when breastfeeding!). I anticipated an hour to myself in Anja’s caring hands. What I didn’t expect was how unfamiliar it felt to simply receive care.

No one needed feeding. No one needed holding. No one was asking anything of me. It was just quiet and someone else’s hands caring for my body without expecting anything in return.

The quiet care felt healing and it caught me off guard.

As a pelvic health physio, I spend a lot of time talking about the nervous system. It doesn’t only respond to stress. It also remembers what safety feels like.

These moments reminded me how receiving care can be just as important as giving it.

Thank you, SKIN | FACIALS | PEELS | MICRONEEDLING | UMHLANGA , for the reminder.

If you’re somewhere in the fourth trimester… or the fifth, sixth, or you can’t recall the last time you were on the receiving end of care… I hope that this serves as a reminder (or a gift idea šŸ˜‰) that your body deserves care.

Last slide - me moaning about my skin a few weeks before šŸ˜…

I urge you to: read the slides and reflect on the safety and calm you might feel in certain contexts and whether you have felt that in healthcare ā¤ļø

Some symptoms don’t appear out of nowhere.
They’ve been there - quietly managed, compensated for, normalised. It’s often only when the hormonal landscape shifts in perimenopause or beyond that the body stops masking or starts unveiling what it has been carrying.

This isn’t failure. It’s information.
If you’ve been noticing changes - new or long-standing, you deserve thorough assessment and care. Start the conversation with your provider šŸ™

There are options, and it is not too late.

Save this if it resonates and share it with someone who needs to hear it.

Alexandra Dubinskaya MD, FACOG, NCMP, IF recently made a post about OASIS - sphincter injuries that make their debut in the menopausal transition. ā€œDe novoā€ incontinence. Head over and have a read!

Back in the office and so grateful for the incredible women I’ve had the privilege of meeting so far.

One thing is certain: women are so darn resilient. The capacity to endure, the determination to seek answers and the courage to keep advocating for themselves despite the dismissal that exists far too often in the field of pelvic health, it never stops moving me.

You deserve to be heard, believed and supported. Honoured to walk alongside each and every one of you. šŸ¤
