Thank you to everyone who contributed to making the Mapelane 2024 Junior Interclub a success!
Thanks to all the visiting teams for joining us at this Junior Interclub, your clubs for supporting your visit, and all the amazing supporters and families who joined us over the weekend.
Your support and enthusiasm for the development of our juniors is what makes doing this worthwhile.
We were blessed with safe launches and returns – thank you to everyone on the beach for the coordination!
Some great catches included a first-time sailie, a personal best wahoo, some very nice GT’s and a pending record-breaking queen fish.
Some very nice cuda were caught including a fish of 13.8 kg caught by Nathan Korving.
Plenty of snoek were landed although very few made the minimum weight of 3 kg.
Catering was great and as always, the boat lunches were a firm favorite.
There were a few first-time launches for some of the anglers. As the emphasis of this Interclub lies in the development of our juniors, getting these kids out to sea and enthusiastic about deep-sea fishing, is key to ensure the growth of our sport.
Thanks to all the skippers for making your boats available and for taking the kids out safely.
Thanks to all our members involved in the catering and logistics of the competition – Alta, Angie, Amy, Bev, Bo, Brent, Chantell, Charmaine, Claire, Danielle, Gitte, Meagan, Mike, Nathan, Paul, Pippa, Shaun, Summer, Tess, Vicki, Wanda, Wayne, Wouter - your behind-the-scenes efforts made this look easy!
As always, a competition is not possible without the sponsors that, again this year, have made a huge contribution.
Thanks to , and for the sponsorship of clothing, fishing tackle, trophies and lures that formed part of lucky draws and prizes awarded to the top teams.
We hope to see you all back in 2025!!
