Cape Town Spurs boss Alexi Efstathiou has issued a detailed update regarding the future of their young player Emile Dortley, who left the club without permission to begin training with Kaizer Chiefs.

"Since they lost the case, the player can only be released at the end of the season. The Hollywoodbets League season is not yet finished," he explained.

"He can only be released at the end of June, which is when we give all our players the necessary clearance. However, as of now, I do not know where he is, and we haven't seen him. He is not eligible to play for them until the season ends, according to SAFA rules, not ours."

Kaizer Chiefs co-coaches Khalil Ben Youssef and Cedric Kaze were informed today their contracts won’t be renewed.

Fitness coach Majdi Safi also departs while the future of goalkeeper coach Ilyes Mzoughi remains in the balance.

26/05/2026

At yesterday’s meeting, both Cedric Kaze and Khalil Ben Youssef expressed their sincere gratitude to Kaizer Chiefs as they prepared to close their chapter with the club.

The duo believe they delivered strong work despite operating on a limited budget in the transfer market compared to rivals.

For context, clubs like Mamelodi Sundowns made major investments, including the signing of Brayan LeΓ³n for around $3.5 million.

Despite the constraints, Chiefs still secured a 3rd-place league finish and collected 10 points in the CAF Confederation Cup group stage.

On their future, one coach is expected to remain in South Africa, with interest coming from Durban City and Sekhukhune United, while the other is linked with a possible move to Tanzania to join a top club. However, nothing has been finalised yet.

The decision to part ways was confirmed at the end of yesterday’s discussions at the Village marking the close of their spell at Naturena.

Note: Cedric Kaze and Khalil Ben Youssef are currently still in South Africa and are expected to depart on Friday.
