My biggest frustration running a martial arts school right now!

๐Ÿฅ‹ โ€œIs my child in for their karate grading?โ€

As an instructor, sometimes the answer has to be:

Not at the moment.

This weeks conversation!!!

Parent: Is my child in for the next grading?

Sensei: Itโ€™s now 10th September, and I still havenโ€™t seen your child back in class.
In fact, weโ€™ve checked and their last training session was 8th July!

Thatโ€™s over TWO MONTHS without training.

Yet sometimes weโ€™re still asked:

โ€œAre they grading?โ€ ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ

This is where parents need to understand that grading is NOT an automatic invite!

Just because a student has been a certain belt for the required amount of time does not automatically mean they are ready for the next one.

๐Ÿฅ‹ Consistency plays a massive part.

We need to see them training.

We need to see their technique.

We need to see their improvement.

We need to see that they remember their syllabus.

And most importantly, we need to be confident that they are ready to attempt the grading.

If we havenโ€™t seen a student train for weeks or months, how can we fairly assess whether theyโ€™re ready?

Grading isnโ€™t something you are simply due.

It is something you work towards and earn.

We completely understand that families have holidays, school breaks and other commitments โ€” especially over the summer. โ˜€๏ธ

But time away from training still has an impact.

As instructors, our responsibility isnโ€™t to put every student forward because a grading date has arrived.

Our responsibility is to make sure the student standing in front of the examiner is READY.

๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿ–ค Attendance. Consistency. Progress. Readiness.

They ALL matter.

ALL IN OR NOTHING AT ALL. ๐Ÿฅ‹!

FROM A PARENTโœจ Please read๐Ÿ™ Share if you agree!

One of my friends asked "Why do you pay so much money for your kids to do Martial Arts?" Well I have a confession to make, I don't pay for my kid's martial arts training. Personally, I couldn't care less about Martial arts....๐Ÿซข

So if I am not paying for martial arts, what am I paying forโ‰๏ธ

๐Ÿ’ฅI pay for those moments when my kids become so tired they want to quit but don't.

๐Ÿ’ฅI pay for those days when my kids come home from school and are "too tired" to go their clubs but go anyway.

๐Ÿ’ฅI pay for my kids to learn to be disciplined.

๐Ÿ’ฅI pay for my kids to learn to take care of their body.

๐Ÿ’ฅI pay for my kids to learn to work with others and to be good team mates.

๐Ÿ’ฅI pay for my kids to learn to deal with disappointment, when they don't get that belt they'd hoped for, but still have to work hard in the grading.

๐Ÿ’ฅI pay for my kids learn to make and accomplish goals.

๐Ÿ’ฅI pay for my kids to learn that it takes hours and hours and hours and hours of hard work and practice to create a black belt, and that success does not happen over night.

๐Ÿ’ฅI pay for the opportunity my kids have and will have to make life-long friendships.

๐Ÿ’ฅI pay so that my kids can be on the mats instead of in front of a screen...

I could go on but to be short, I don't pay for martial arts, I pay for the opportunities that martial arts provides my kids to develop attributes that will serve them well throughout their lives and give them the opportunity to bless the lives of others.
From what I have seen so far I think martial arts is a great investment!๐Ÿฅ‹๐Ÿ’ฏ๐Ÿฅ‹

Martial arts is a way of life !!๐Ÿ’ฏ๐Ÿฅ‹
