Langeberg Chess Club Gives Back to the Community
On Youth Day 16 June 2026, Langeberg Chess Club not only played chess, but also opened our hearts to the community. As part of our goal to make a positive difference, the club hosted a warm and tasty soup project to support and pamper people in the community.
Our young players enjoyed the day with friendly chess matches, laughter and team building, while volunteers and supporters helped distribute hot soup. The project brought people of all ages together and showed how sport and community service can go hand in hand.
At Langeberg Chess Club, we believe that chess is more than just a game. It teaches discipline, respect, responsibility and caring for others. By giving back to the community, our young people learn the importance of service and humanity.
We would like to thank every person who helped make this day possible – from the donors and volunteers to the parents and players who gave their time and energy. Your support helps us to develop not only better chess players, but also young leaders who make a difference in their communities.
Langeberg Chess Club is proud to be part of the community. Together we build a stronger, kinder and more hopeful future for our youth. This Youth Day was a reminder that every small gesture of kindness can have a big impact.

♟️ Meet LIAM FORTUIN ♟️

Liam Fortuin is a talented and dedicated young chess player from Langeberg Chess Club who developed his love for chess at a young age. Through hard work, perseverance and regular participation in chess tournaments, Liam has established himself as one of the club’s promising players.
One of his greatest achievements is that he has already made the Cape Winelands Chess School Team several times. This achievement is testament to his excellent playing ability, strategic thinking and the hard work he constantly puts into his chess development. Making the Cape Winelands team requires dedication and the ability to perform against strong opponents, something that Liam has proven time and time again.
As a player from Langeberg Chess Club, Liam regularly participates in local, regional and school chess tournaments. Each tournament offers him the opportunity to learn new skills, gain experience and further improve his game. His participation in various competitions has helped him build self-confidence and strengthen his ability to make decisions under pressure.
Liam is an excellent example of what can be achieved through hard work and consistent practice. Langeberg Chess Club is proud of his achievements and looks forward to supporting his further growth and success in the chess world. His future in chess looks very promising.
