🏆 Congratulations to Faith-Lynn Africa! 🏆♟️
Langeberg Chess Club would like to extend our heartfelt congratulations to Faith-Lynn Africa on her outstanding achievement at the Western Cape Primary School Top Schools Team Championship 2026, held on 5–6 September 2026 in Wellington.
Faith-Lynn represented her school with great pride and determination while competing against some of the best primary schools from across the Western Cape.
Her excellent performance earned her the winner board prize after achieving an impressive score of 5/6 victories. This achievement is a true reflection of her hard work, dedication, and passion for chess.
We are extremely proud of Faith-Lynn and the way she continues to represent her school and community. May this success inspire her to reach even greater heights in her chess journey.

Congratulations to Faith-Lynn Africa and Anthea Evertson on Their Excellent Achievements! ♟️🏆

Langeberg Chess Club would like to extend our heartfelt congratulations to two of our talented junior players, Faith-Lynn Africa and Anthea Evertson, on their outstanding achievements at the Kleinmond Chess Tournament held on 29 August 2026.
Faith-Lynn Africa achieved an impressive third place in the Under 12 section. Her hard work, dedication, and passion for chess were clearly visible throughout the tournament. She played with great focus, confidence, and determination, showing that commitment, discipline, and regular training can lead to excellent results.
We would also like to congratulate Anthea Evertson for securing third place in the Under 14 section. Anthea displayed excellent concentration, strategic thinking, and great sportsmanship while competing against other talented young chess players.
These achievements are a proud moment for Langeberg Chess Club and highlight the growing talent and potential of our young players. Chess is not only about winning; it also develops important life skills such as problem-solving, patience, discipline, respect, and confidence.

Langeberg Chess Club Junior Players Shine at Kleinmond Chess Tournament

On 29 August 2026, the junior players of Langeberg Chess Club proudly participated in the Kleinmond Chess Tournament. It was a day filled with challenges, new experiences, learning opportunities and the chance for our young players to showcase their skills on the chessboard.
The day brought cold and rainy weather, but this could not stop our players from giving their best. Despite the difficult conditions, the children arrived with enthusiasm, determination and a positive attitude. They showed that true sportsmanship is not only about winning, but also about commitment, courage and the willingness to learn.
Every player who participated gained valuable experience. Chess is more than just moving pieces on a board — it teaches children important life skills such as problem-solving, patience, concentration, discipline, confidence and respect for others.
Our junior players proved that they are ready to compete against other young chess talents. They played with focus, developed strategies, faced challenges and learned from every game they played. Every victory, every loss and every difficult moment forms part of their journey as growing chess players.
Langeberg Chess Club is extremely proud of every player who represented the club at Kleinmond. Their participation reflects the hard work put in during training sessions, the support from parents, and the dedication of everyone involved in developing young chess players in our community.
A special thank you goes to the organisers of the Kleinmond Chess Tournament for hosting a wonderful event. We also thank all the parents, supporters and everyone who travelled with us and encouraged our players throughout the day.

Langeberg Chess Club – Bringing Chess to the Community

Langeberg Chess Club is different because our mission is not only to create a place where players come to play chess — we take chess directly into the community. We believe that every child, regardless of their background or circumstances, should have the opportunity to learn, enjoy and benefit from the game of chess.
Our approach is simple: we bring chess to the community instead of waiting for the community to come to chess. We visit schools, communities and areas where children may not always have access to organised chess activities. By taking chess closer to the people, we create opportunities for young minds to discover their talent, develop confidence and build important life skills.
Chess is more than just a game. It teaches children patience, discipline, problem-solving, decision-making and respect. Through our programmes, we aim to use chess as a tool for youth development, education and positive change. We focus not only on winning tournaments but also on building character and creating role models within our communities.
Langeberg Chess Club works with children from different backgrounds and provides them with a safe environment where they can learn, compete and grow. We encourage teamwork, sportsmanship and friendship while giving players the chance to represent their schools, towns and communities at tournaments.
Our vision is to make chess accessible to everyone. We want children who may never have had the opportunity to play chess before to experience the benefits of this powerful game. By bringing chess to the community, we are opening doors, creating opportunities and helping to develop the next generation of thinkers and leaders.

Mihandro and Elijah Edons Represent Cape Winelands at Western Cape Schools Kings and Queens teams in ceres at ceres secondary school.

Mihandro and Elijah Edons proudly represented the Cape Winelands region at the Western Cape Schools Kings and Queens Team Event on 15 August 2026.

The two young chess players competed as part of the Cape Winelands team against strong teams from the West Coast and Eden Union. The team showed great teamwork, determination, and skill throughout the competition.
The Cape Winelands team achieved an excellent result by finishing in second place.
Langeberg Chess Club is extremely proud of Mihandro and Elijah for representing their region with pride and for continuing to inspire other young chess players through their dedication and hard work.

Liam Fortuin Shines at Western Cape Schools Brian Raubenheimer Development Tournament

What a great achievement by our young chess star, Liam Fortuin!
Liam represented Cape winelands at the Western Cape Schools Brian Raubenheimer Development Tournament held at Ceres Secondary School, where he competed in the Under 11 section.
He delivered an outstanding performance by scoring 5 wins out of 6 games (5/6). His hard work, dedication, and love for chess helped him secure an impressive second place position and he received a well-deserved silver medal.
We are extremely proud of Liam and the progress he is making. His achievement shows what can happen when young players are given opportunities, support, and encouragement.
