The 3rd and final match of the T20 series versus Gouda took place today. Gouda put up a formidable score of 161 in their 20 overs. Unfortunately today we fell short and only managed to score 137. Darren from Gouda was our player of the tournament. Representing SS was Matthew who got batsman of the tournament scoring 173 runs in 3 matches, which included 2 50's. He also won the PowerBat award for the most boundaries, 26 fours and 4 Sixes. JG Coetzee won bowler of the tournament with the most wickets taken, 8 in 3 matches. Seth McMillan walked away with fielder of the tournament, 5 catches, 1 stumping and a run out. He also got the junior player of the tournament award. So for another year the trophy will remain in the possession of SS, winning the tournament 2-1. We'll done boys. So proud of each and everyone of you.

Gouda vs Soaring Sixes Cricket Academy

What a game! Today was our second match of three against Gouda for the T20 series trophy. After winning the first one last Sunday we were in a good position to seal the series. Gouda won the toss and chose to bowl first. We got off to a solid start with a 48 run opening partnership. Our captain, Matthew Ferreira, once again led from the front scoring 84 of 57 balls with Seth McMillan and Finn Fowlds putting on the finishing touches to reach a total of 158 in our 20 overs. Gouda got off to a flyer scoring 112/1 within the first 10 overs. 47 Runs needed of the last 10. The game seemed lost at that point but that was when the SS boys made the impossible possible and took the next 9 wickets for 46 Runs forcing the game into a super over. Gouda went in first with Matthew bowling our over and only conceding 6 Runs. Matthew and Finn Gretchel then went in to chase down the 6run of 6 balls. First ball dot, the second ball was bowled and as the attached video proves got dispatched by Matthew for a 6 which left us with 1 run of 4 balls. Third ball hit Matthew on the pads but with quick reactions they scampered through for a single and winning the game. This group of players proved today that nothing is impossible and that it ain't over until the last ball. So so proud of you boys but please, for the sake of my heart, let's not do it like this again. The win means that Soaring Sixes Cricket Academy will remain champions for another year and will permanently keep the current trophy.

Well done boys! We started our defense of the T20 series against Gouda today where we traveled to Saron sports ground for the match. We won the the toss and chose to have a bowl first on a slightly damp pitch. Gouda posted a total of 106 after their last wicket fell on 18.3 overs with JG Coetzee, our vice captain, taking 5 wickets for 23 runs in 4 overs. After a shaky start with the bat Matthew Ferreira, our captain, and Seth McMillan put up a valuable partnership of 59 runs of just 41 balls to reach the target in 17.4 overs, winning the match by 6 wickets. Matthew played a captains innings and finished 51 not out. Man of the match was JG Coetzee with his 5 wickets. 1 up in the series and looking forward to round 2 of 3 next Saturday. Thank you to all the parents that made the trip and supported the team and thank you to Gouda for putting up a really good fight. One can never under estimate them with the talent in their team.

The annual Riebeek Valley Boxing Day cricket match with a team from Riebeek West vs Riebeek Kasteel. Going in 8 wins each. This tradition started in 1995/6. Loads of fun as we watch these adults (some semi pro players) battle it out in the sun. Congratulations to Riebeek West for taking the 2022 trophy.

At the end of the year and to sign off a great cricket season, we have our annual "parents" vs players match. Going into this year's match, the score stood 1 win for parents and 1 win for players. Lots of fun in the sun and some great cricket shots...also some not so great shots😛
Thank you all for an amazing year and congratulations to the Parents Team who sneaked in the win for 2022!

T20 Youth Series 2022

Riebeek Valley's very own Soaring Sixes Cricket Academy came out bats blazing on Saturday in a must win game to clinch the 2022 title and bring the trophy home from defending champions Gouda Cricket Club.
After winning the first game, but losing the second nail biting game, the boys knew what they had to do. An amazing game of cricket from both teams, but there can be only one champion!
Congratulations boys! Well played and well deserved.

Today we had to say goodbye to one of our players that have been part of our cricketing family for many years. He arrived as a grade 2 boy and now leaves us in grade 7 for America. It has been such a pleasure to work with you JP. You have progressed so much and we have nothing but a lot of love for you. You will be missed. Good luck with your future endeavors. To Vanessa, thank you for your understanding and support over the years. You have raised a wonderful young man. Until we meet again.
