For those of you who are unfamiliar with how the academy works: All are welcome. There are no fees. You should be able to swim and are preferably comfortable in and around water. The clubhouse has a stock of good quality life jackets that you can use, so you do not need to purchase your own (though a good life jacket is always a good investment). Novice sailors are invited to helm a boat quickly, but this is perfectly safe as there is a rescue motor boat and all the sailing takes place a few hundred meters form the club house. You can go at your own pace: some dive in without concern and others take their time. Most of our learning sailors are kids, but there is no reason why adults cannot join the lessons too. Always check that the sailing academy is running before showing up on a Sunday morning; sometimes the lessons will be cancelled at short notice if the weather is not suitable (usually because the wind is too strong). If the bug really bites, we’ll invite you to join the club (membership fees are very affordable).
