Northern Farm Nature Reserve (also known as the Diepsloot Nature Reserve) is one of Johannesburg's best-kept secrets and offers over 2500ha of beautiful green grasslands and woodlands to explore. a breeding pair of fish eagles). How the "Weight-for-Watts" System Works:
To achieve a "Level Environment," every rider/bike combination must compete at a Standardized System Weight of 110kg.

Mandatory Weigh-In: Before attempting "The Comeback Trail," all riders must stop at the Integrity Station at the base of the climb.

Ballast Allocation: Our marshals will calculate your deficit. (e.g., If you and your bike weigh 85kg, you will be issued 25kg of Standardized Ballast official bricks/sandbags).

The Climb: Ballast must be carried to the summit in a backpack or strapped to the frame.

Verification: A marshal at the summit will collect your ballast and issue a Digital Validation Stamp.

⚡ E-Bike Policy
To compensate for motor assistance, all E-bikers are required to carry the "Heavy-Industry Ballast" (Total System Weight: 150kg) to ensure they do not unfairly dominate the leaderboards.

We’ve been busy humans at Northern Farm and we’ve officially flipped the script on 25 years of trail history and trails. We’ve got new routes, new names, and enough options to make your head spin (in a good way, like a Goldfish with a short memory!).

The "Scientific-ish" Breakdown
We are not scientists. We know every GPS device out there is going to have its own opinion on distance and elevation. That’s just science, and we’re here for the vibes, not the laboratory!

Follow the Signs:
All splits are marked with trail names. You now have multiple offerings across various distances, we will drop reviews on each route early next week.

Explore the Unknown:
These routes are taking you to parts of the farm you didn't even know existed. It’s like finding a R200 note in your old saddle bag.

The Most Important One:
Have fun out there. If you aren't smiling, you're doing it wrong.
We aren't quite finished with the masterpiece yet, the Red trails are expanding and the Black route is still "loading", but the fun starts right now.
So, grab your helmet, leave your "muscle memory" at the gate, and come see what 25 years of flow feels like when you turn it upside down!

EVERYTHING HAS CHANGED.

After 25 years, 100km of trail, and roughly 900,000 rides (give or take a few thousand flat tires), we decided it was time to flip Northern Farm on its head.

The Trail Flip is officially LIVE.

Why? Because you deserve options. We’ve redesigned the flow to give you multiple ways to explore the farm without having to ride to the next province.

The New Lineup:

💗 Pink: 8km (1 route)

💚 Green A & B: 12km

💙 Blue, Blue A & Blue B: 22km - 24km

❤️ Red A & B: 32km

💜 Purple: 47km

🖤 Black: Still loading... watch this space.

⚠️ CRITICAL PSA: Do NOT trust your muscle memory. If you try to ride the "old" routes, you’re looking at a head-on collision. Follow the new A/B markers and keep the rubber side down!

Forget everything you think you know about Northern Farm. Starting this March, we are officially flipping the script.

To celebrate 25 years of riding adventure, we are executing a massive trail flip across the entire farm. For the first time in a quarter of a century, the full flow of the farm is being reversed and redesigned. This means you will be heading to new places with more options and more features than ever before.

A word of advice for the regulars: get those heads up. If you try to ride these on autopilot, the only thing you will be "connecting" with is a rider coming the other way or a tree that used to be on your left. Habit is your enemy here. From the 21st of March, if you aren't paying attention, it won't be a personal best it will be a head-on.

This coming weekend is your final opportunity to ride the trails in their current direction before we flip the farm. Come out and say your goodbyes to the lines you have spent years perfecting.

We want to thank you for the incredible love and support over the past 25 years that has made this evolution possible. We cannot wait for you to experience the new flow from the 21st of March.

Well, you’re back. Whether you crossed the line with a world-class sprint or crawled over it questioning every life choice you’ve made since buying a bicycle, congratulations.

From the "Instagram-ready" singletrack to the rugged outback of the Crocodile River Reserve, the routes lived up to their names. It was tough, it was beautiful, and thanks to you, it was incredibly fast. We saw the sweat, we saw the literal blood, and we’re pretty sure we saw a few of you negotiating with the sky for mercy on those final character-building climbs. You conquered the terrain, survived Bongani’s revenge, and dodged the ruts. For that, you deserve all the bragging rights and perhaps a very large steak.

We have included a few initial race images here to tide you over. Please standby while the rest are being edited—we will send out a link to the full gallery the moment we get them so you can prove to the group chat that you actually did it.

RIDE THE KAROO TREASURE HUNT!
One entry into Ride The Karoo has been hidden and unclaimed for a whole month! This weekend, we’re telling you exactly where to find it. First come, first serve!

Ready to claim your spot? Follow the clues!

The Target Zone
You are hunting on the famous Paradise Bird Catcher trail! Specifically, look for the section known as Lion Ant Hill (or as Strava has it, Te****le Single Track).

Start Strong: You will need to conquer Bongani's revenge. For those in the know, this is on the purple, red and black route...

Landmark Check: Keep moving until you land up under the belly of a plane (you’ll know it when you see it!).

The Final Flow: From there, you will sweep hard left up a bump, short drop down, and then sweep back right into some trees.

What You’re Looking For :
The entry is a BRIGHT ORANGE AND WHITE tag that clearly says "RACE ENTRY".

It is placed approximately 2 feet off the trail and at eye level.
