Some of my coaching contacts have asked me why I decided to go for the ICF accreditations now, when I already have an established coaching practice and more than 3,000 paid coaching sessions under my belt.
ICF is the largest and one of the most professional coaching bodies in the world and has a strict regime and robust framework that coaches need to comply with in order to hold their credentials. This framework includes ethical practice, a mindset of constant reflection, self- and business improvement, rigorous coaching supervision, as well as the evaluation of my actual coaching sessions by qualified mentor coaches. It means that your coaching is not simply based on what you believe you are doing well. Your practice is observed, challenged, reflected on and evaluated against clearly defined professional standards. You can also be reported if you breach the Code of Conduct, and there are clear standards and accountability attached to holding these credentials.
I think the main reason for going this route is the framework, continued education in my field, as well as the fact that it keeps my brain sharp on what is important to me.
So, I am happy that I have finished my ICF Certified Executive Coach Certification. Currently, I am busy with my ICF ACC exam preparation and the ICF Advanced Certification in Team Coaching, and my end goal is my CMC, which is the ICF Mentor Coach.
These credentials are rewarding and time-consuming at the same time, and they also come with a massive financial investment. But regardless of that, at the heart of my passion is the desire to serve my clients in the best and most effective way possible. That is my craft, my passion and my commitment.
The combination of that, together with the story of my life and my achievements, is a blend that makes me a stand-out coach, evident in the success of my practice. Today, I acknowledge that and I am proud of it, because it is also important to stop and recognise for ourselves what we have accomplished.
Stepping out of imposter syndrome, throwing myself out there and accepting every challenge I was faced with is the reason I am where I am today, and I am grateful for that. đź’Ş
