Constructive engagement with Minister Maynier
On 11 September, representatives of Professional Hunters' Association of South Africa PHASA, the PHASA Foundation PHASA Foundation, Safari Club International (SCI)Safari Club International - SCI, Safari Club International Foundation (SCIF) Safari Club International Foundation and the Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment (DFFE) met with the Honorable Minister Maynier at the PHASA / SCI Africa offices in Irene, Centurion.
The meeting provided an important opportunity to introduce the respective organizations and their work, and to engage on key matters affecting South Africa’s hunting, wildlife and conservation sector.
Discussions included challenges facing the industry, such as international trophy-import bans, legislation and regulatory matters, as well as conservation and community-focused projects. The parties also highlighted the importance of practical collaboration, credible information and solutions that support both sustainable wildlife use and rural economy.
PHASA, the PHASA Foundation, SCI and SCIF conveyed a clear message to the Honorable Minister: we are solution-driven partners, committed to supporting conservation, responsible wildlife management and the development of rural communities throughout South Africa.
We appreciate the Minister’s time and the constructive engagement and look forward to continued cooperation with government and industry stakeholders in advancing a sustainable future for wildlife, communities and the hunting sector.
