Affordable 5-star facilities in a beautiful, tranquil setting It is also the headquarters of Bowls Gauteng North.

Wingate Park Bowls Club is part of the beautifully landscaped Wingate Park Country Club, situated only a few minutes from Menlyn Park Shopping Centre. The bowls section boasts 5 immaculately manicured greens and has been host to many national and international competitions. The club provides unprecedented levels of service and facilities second to none. The clubhouse is also equipped to handle a v

ariety of functions from weddings to large corporate events. The fees are surprisingly affordable for a country club and include all green fees and sandwiches/tea during normal play times (social games and club competitions). The club offers social play ("tabs-in") on Tuesday afternoon, Friday morning, Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning. We also host a "Buddy Day" once a month where new bowlers are introduced to the game of bowls.

🔥 THE BOWLER AND COURAGE 🔥

Courage in lawn bowls doesn’t always arrive with a massive drive and bowls flying everywhere. 💥😅

Sometimes courage is much quieter.

🎯 It’s playing the draw when every part of you is terrified of being short.
💪 It’s trusting your backhand again after missing it twice.
🧠 It’s standing on the mat, shutting out the doubt and committing fully to the shot.
🔥 And sometimes… it’s choosing the bowl you KNOW you should play instead of the one that simply feels safer.

Because courage isn’t about being fearless.

It’s about still playing your bowl while the doubt is there.

Every bowler knows that moment…
You step onto the mat.
You know the shot.
You know the line.
And then that little voice starts:

🔥🟢 KNOW THE RULES. PLAY THE GAME. ENJOY THE SPORT. 🟢🔥

We often talk about the players on the green… but what about the MARKER? 👀

In a singles game, the marker has far more responsibility than simply standing at the head and answering “Am I holding shot?” 😄

📖 LAW 42 – THE MARKER’S DUTIES

In the absence of an umpire, the marker has important responsibilities in making sure the game is played in accordance with the Laws of the Sport of Bowls.

And some of those duties begin before the first bowl is even delivered! 😲

The marker must ensure that:
✅ Play is carried out according to the Laws.
✅ Bowls have a clearly visible, valid World Bowls Stamp.
✅ The rink is the correct width.
✅ The required markers on the side banks are positioned at the correct distances.
