Congratulations to Deon de Villiers on winning the 𝗦𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗹𝗲 𝗚𝗼𝗻𝗴𝘀𝗸𝗶𝗲𝘁 match held on 25 July 2026 in Bloemfontein. As "Team Overwatch" Deon and Johan Lottering also walked away being the best team on the day.

𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗺𝘂𝗰𝗵 𝗱𝗼 𝗘𝘅𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗲 𝗦𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱 (𝗘𝗦) 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 (𝗦𝗗) 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿?

It depends entirely on your application.

At short distances, chasing single digit ES and SD numbers is largely irrelevant. Low spreads may indicate good reloading practices or suggest you've found a stable load node - but they don't automatically translate into better hits.

As distance increases, however, velocity variation starts to matter because it creates vertical dispersion.

A simple rule of thumb is this:

Don't chase low ES and SD for the sake of numbers. Chase them only when they have a measurable impact on your ability to hit the target.

When it comes to hunting, same same... but different.

Hunting with Peregrine's specialised Sub Sonic bullets is an experience unlike conventional supersonic hunting, yet just as effective.

Rudi Barnard from Brothers Arms recently harvested this impala ewe at 60 - 70m using a 308 Wi******er loaded with our 155gr Peregrine Sub Sonic. The shot was presented at a quartering-away angle and was executed perfectly. The ewe covered approximately 30 - 40 metres before expiring.

The recovered carcass tells the story:

✅ Minimal damage to usable meat.
✅ Devastating internal organ damage.
✅ Fast, ethical harvest.

Unlike traditional expanding hunting bullets, the Peregrine Sub Sonic is designed to create a unique crunch-and-cut wound channel. Rather than relying on high-velocity hydraulic shock, it delivers exceptional terminal performance through mechanical tissue destruction. When the PH is happy, we're happy.

Congratulations to Louis Roelofse of Khalanyoni Game Ranch in Limpopo on guiding his client to a successful zebra hunt.

The r***e of choice was a .375 H&H loaded with Peregrine 300gr VRG3 bullets.

The zebra presented a challenging 227m quartering-to shot. The result was a well-placed shot, and the animal dropped in its tracks.

Bullet recovery showed exactly why the VRG3 has earned its reputation:

One of the traditions JD Els looks forward to most every year is taking his 8 year old son, Luan, on their annual father-and-son hunt. This year they headed to Crystal Waters near Alma in the Waterberg, Limpopo.

The opportunity came at approximately 120 metres on a mature Blue Wildebeest bull, an animal well known for its toughness and often referred to as the "poor man's buffalo."

The shot placement could not have been better. Luan placed the shot just behind the shoulder, and the bull dropped where it stood.

Luan was hunting with a 22 GT loaded with Peregrine's 70gr VRG3 at 3,230 fps. topped with a Hawke Frontier optic.

Well done, Luan. Congratulations on a memorable hunt and a perfectly executed shot.
