The High Performance Centre (hpc) at the University of Pretoria is Southern Africa’s first elite one-stop sports facility. Launched in May 2002, the centre is the training ground for tomorrow’s sporting champions and the venue of choice for sports professionals and enthusiasts alike. From training facilities to medical services, accommodation and food, the hpc offers everyone the opportunity to en

joy its awe-inspiring environment. The centre is situated on the University of Pretoria’s sports grounds and offers 76 hectares of sports dedicated land. The hpc is endorsed by the University’s institute of Sport Research (ISR) and enjoys the very best in state of the art technology and expertise. The centre manages the intellectual development of sport science-based practices, sporting infrastructure and facilities, sports events and sport-inspired hospitality services. The hpc is located in Pretoria (Gauteng), in South Africa’s capital. Pretoria boasts the best of South Africa’s weather, high altitude (approximately 1,500m (4920ft) above sea level) and easy access to OR Tambo International airport (the busiest airport in Africa). This makes the hpc ideal for the full-time training of its academy students as well as for visiting local and international guests. The role of the hpc can be divided into two inter-related parts: The TuksSport Academies and to provide a venue for high profile international and local athletes and teams for pre-season or pre-event training.

Sekgodiso clocked 1:58.80, winning 🥇 gold, and Du Plessis followed closely with 1:58.98, clinching 🥈 silver in the women’s 800m final — securing automatic qualification for the 2025 World Athletics Championships in Tokyo.

Tuks' swimmers showcased the rewards of dedication and determination at the 🇿🇦 2025 SA National Swimming Championships in Gqeberha, collecting an impressive haul of 64 medals.

Leading the charge was Pieter Coetzé of , who delivered a series of standout performances. He secured qualification for the Singapore 2025 World Aquatics Championships in three events: the 50m freestyle and the 50m, 100m, and 200m backstroke. To top it off, Coetzé also claimed gold in the 100m freestyle, underlining his dominance in the pool.

"Mission accomplished. I just wanted to qualify and get it done. It would have been nice to be a bit faster… but I think I'm in a perfect spot for this time of the year because I also don't want to peak now. I want to go overseas and perform there, so I think this is a perfect base, and things look good," says the two-time Olympian.

The hpc is looking for shift-based Casual Driving Range Assistants to join the Club (6–8 positions available)

Responsibilities:
🔹 Basic green-keeping and landscaping
🔹 Assisting with membership contracts and kiosk services
🔹 Inventory control and facility maintenance
Golf ball recycling, grass cutting, divot repair, fertilising and watering
🔹 Reporting on staff, stock, and operational matters

Minimum Requirements:
🔸 Ability to drive a golf cart
🔸 Administrative skills: cash-ups, client registers, stock control
🔸 Basic knowledge of golf, green-keeping, and landscaping
🔸 Senior Certificate or 3+ years relevant experience
🔸 Strong communication and manual labour capabilities
🔸 Neat appearance, sober habits, and no criminal record
🔸 Willingness to work shifts, weekends, holidays, and public holidays
