WENNERS… WENNERS… WENNERS… SAL ONS WEES! 🎾
Zambesi Tennis Club was buzzing with energy on Saturday, 21 March 2026 — a day packed with action, camaraderie, and top-class tennis.
Preparations kicked off early, with our dedicated team getting everything ready from 12:00. Retha Bruwer and her “team of elves” were everywhere — like a well-oiled machine in full swing. Tables were beautifully set, chairs arranged on the veranda, courts cleaned to perfection, and the scoreboards (kindly donated by Nico Ras) proudly put in place. Days like these don’t just happen — they are built by people who care. A sincere thank you to Retha and everyone behind the scenes who make it all possible.
At 13:00, the finals began, and what a spectacle it was! We were treated to high-quality, competitive tennis that kept everyone entertained.
The AGM followed and, in true Zambesi style, was efficient and well-run. The existing management team was re-elected — well deserved! Having all documents shared beforehand certainly keeps things sharp and to the point.
Then came the moment everyone was waiting for… the lucky draw for the Seasons Resort luxury weekend getaway — generously sponsored by Jaco and Retha Bruwer. Your continued support does not go unnoticed. And the lucky winner? Theunis JV Rensburg! A worthy winner indeed… although we’re still debating whether Annemarie should stay home so we can turn it into a proper guys’ weekend!

The day ended on a high note with delicious, freshly made hamburgers, followed by Retha’s famous pineapple and apple tarts served with ice cream — a perfect finish. Members relaxed on the stoep, enjoying good food, great company, and the spirit that makes this club so special.
A big thank you to Cerita for her outstanding organisation of the Championships — you truly are an efficient superstar! And to our coaches, Danie and team, for the excellent work you continue to do.
Finally, to every committee member — your effort does not go unnoticed. This club thrives because of you.
