South African National Space Agency (SANSA) In service of humanity UNAUTHORISED USE OF SANSA NAME, ABBREVIATION AND LOGO

Realising the need to steer South Africa from a largely resource-based economy to knowledge based economy, the Department of Science and Innovation developed the ten-year innovation plan. This plan identifies five grand challenges of which Space science and technology is one.under SANSA key strategic institutions (ii) promoting better co-ordination of national space activities under SANSA, and (iii) creating a visible single point of contact for national space activities. The South African National Space Agency would like to remind all stakeholders and partners that the name ‘South African National Space Agency’ and its abbreviation ‘SANSA’ and the logo of SANSA are all trademarks of SANSA.
2. Therefore, the use of any of these trademarks may only be made with the express written authorisation of SANSA. Unauthorised use constitutes a trademark infringement in respect of which penalties may be imposed by a court of law.
3. Unauthorised use includes:-
- the use of the words South African National Space Agency and/or the abbreviation SANSA in e-mail addresses, on websites, social media platforms, documentation, marketing material or any other materials; and
- the use of the SANSA logo or aspects of the logo on any websites, social media platforms, documentation, marketing material or any other material.
4. Persons that are using these trademarks are requested to change their e-mail addresses, website domain names, and remove all elements from their websites, social media platforms, documentation or other material with IMMEDIATE EFFECT.
5. Failure to comply will result in SANSA commencing legal proceedings against such person(s), in order to protect its intellectual property.
