Why would anyone still carry a snub nose revolver?

Because sometimes the gun you’ll actually carry beats the gun you left at home.

A small revolver gives up a lot. You typically get five or six rounds. The trigger can be harder to shoot well. Reloads are slower. Short barrels and small grips can make them surprisingly unforgiving.

So why carry one?

Because they’re small, simple, and easy to conceal. A snub nose can disappear under clothing that makes carrying a larger handgun difficult. For some people, that makes it an excellent option for deep concealment, a backup gun, or those situations where carrying something larger simply isn’t practical.

But “simple” doesn’t mean “easy.”

Snub nose revolvers demand practice. The short sight radius, heavy trigger, limited capacity, and increased difficulty of shooting a small gun well mean you need to understand exactly what you’re carrying and what its limitations are.

That’s really the point.

The best concealed carry gun isn’t necessarily the biggest gun, the newest gun, or the gun with the most rounds. It’s the gun that fits your circumstances, that you can conceal consistently, and that you’ve put in the work to use responsibly and competently.

For some people, that’s a modern semi-auto.

For others, there’s still a very good argument for five rounds in a little wheel gun.
