The nights are long
But the years are short
You blink and then the newborn phase is gone
The squishy legs and chest naps are replaced with strong little running legs and days with no naps

When you’re in the thick of it that’s not exactly what you want to hear. I didn’t either…

But when I was in hospital with my third, I so badly wanted to tell the mom next door with an inconsolable baby that everything will be ok. Maybe it’s not the worst thing in the world if your baby has some formula or if you’re struggling to latch ask for more help! I wish I could give her our newborn course and help her breathe and survive those first few nights!

But sometimes the only way out is through, but we can make through easier.

Sleep regressions happen because sleep is developmental — your baby’s brain, body and awareness are constantly changing.

Sometimes that looks like:
✨ short naps
✨ fighting sleep
✨ more waking
✨ needing extra support again

The goal isn’t perfect sleep every day.
The goal is helping your baby adapt while keeping sleep habits sustainable for your family.

You don’t need stricter rules. You need realistic expectations and the right support through each phase.

Every baby develops differently… so regressions do too. ✨

⏰Sleep regressions don’t follow an exact calendar. While we often hear about the “4 month” or “8 month” regressions, some babies experience them earlier, later, or barely at all.

That’s because regressions are usually linked to development — not age alone. Things like rolling, crawling, growth spurts, teething, separation anxiety, or changing sleep needs can all affect sleep.

Signs may include:

Short naps
More night wakings
Fighting sleep
Early mornings
Needing extra comfort

The good news? Regressions are temporary and often a sign your baby is learning and growing rapidly. 🤍
