Degenerative disorders of the optic nerve, such as glaucoma, cause chronic, progressive damage to the visual field. Glaucoma is the second leading cause of blindness, and it is irreversible.

Glaucoma affects around 80 million people worldwide. Approximately 50% of people with glaucoma are unaware that they have the disease, and this number may even be higher in underdeveloped countries. Glaucoma is asymptomatic in its early stages. Blindness may result from untreated glaucoma.

Early diagnosis of visual impairment can be prevented with periodic testing.

The Campaign aims to raise funds to provide dignity packs for Zenzeleni Primary School in Alexandra.

These packs include sanitary towels and toiletries that young girls at the school can be able to use all year round.
