A study by Schifino et al. (2018) measured the effects of eccentric cycling training on running economy in healthy males.

Participants did two 5 - 10.5 min sessions a week for 8 weeks at 20 to 55% of peak power output. Peak power output was determined beforehand.

Significant improvements in running economy was found after the 8-week training program.

Improved running economy means less energy is used at your current ideal running pace, meaning that you could either last longer, or go a little faster at increased comfort.

The Grucox Trainer offers an ideal high-intensity, non-contact alternative to running to take load of your knees.
