FROM RUSTENBURG TO THE WORLD!

What an incredible weekend for our NWU Junior Swimming Club swimmers at the SA Special Olympics in Rustenburg!

And a HUGE congratulations to Tiaan Keyser!

Following the conclusion of the SA Special Olympics, Tiaan has been selected as one of only 65 athletes who will represent South Africa at the World Special Olympics in Santiago, Chile, in October 2027!

What an amazing achievement, Tiaan! Your hard work, dedication and determination have paid off, and we couldn't be prouder. We can't wait to follow you on this incredible journey!

And there were some fantastic performances from the rest of our swimmers too:

🥇 Kutlwano Dlamini smashed the 100m freestyle to claim a well deserved gold!

🥉 Lourette Seyffert took home bronze in the 400m freestyle, well done, Lourette!

A big shout-out to Aubrey James and all four swimmers for representing with such commitment and pride.

From personal bests to podium finishes and now a place on the South African World Special Olympics team, what a weekend to remember!

We are incredibly proud of you all. Keep swimming, keep believing and keep chasing those dreams!

What an incredible experience for our swimmers!

We are extremely proud of Dedrè Engelbrecht, Egbert Palmer and Dylan Manini, who participated in an international swimming tour to Italy.

After accepting an invitation to compete abroad, the trio took part in the prestigious 10th Treviso Swim Cup, held on 26–27 June 2026. The competition attracted more than 1,000 swimmers from around 80 clubs across Italy, making it an unforgettable opportunity to compete against top international talent.

The tour also included the Pesaro Gala, where our swimmers continued to gain valuable racing experience while proudly representing their club, province and South Africa.

A special thank you to Coach Bernard Theron, who accompanied the team, providing guidance, encouragement and support throughout the tour. Opportunities like these are invaluable in helping young swimmers grow both in and out of the pool.

Well done, Dedrè, Egbert and Dylan! We are incredibly proud of everything you achieved and know that the experience, friendships and memories made in Italy will stay with you for years to come.

We celebrated the hard work, dedication and achievements of our swimmers throughout the season, while also recognising the people who make our club so special.

Welcome home, team!

We are so proud of our club swimmers who recently competed at the SA Schools Championships in Cape Town. Your hard work and dedication really showed, with many of you achieving great results and new personal bests in the pool.

You also represented our club and the North West team with pride, showing great team spirit, leadership and sportsmanship throughout the event.

A big thank you to Coach Bernard for all the support, guidance and encouragement during the championships. Your experience and leadership mean so much to our swimmers, and we are proud to have you as part of our club.

We’re happy to have everyone safely back home. Well done, swimmers — you’ve made us proud!
