Match report:

The top of the table clash between your EMA Vikings and the unbeaten Aces lived up to the hype created before the match.

The Aces won the toss and elected to bowl first. This was not the end of the world for Captain, Jaco Otto, has he would have chosen to bat first as well.

Batting proved difficult for the opening pair as wickets fell early. Some excellent batting from Rudi Smit and Jaco Otto saw the pair making a 93-run partnership.

The Vikings set a target of 146 runs.

The Aces would have felt comfortable chasing this target, but a combination of good line and length bowling and great fielding, saw the Aces needing 15 runs in the final 3 overs.

The good bowling continued, and Handrè Meyer left Marthinus Fritz to bowl the final over needing to defend a six-run lead.

Marthinus bowled well, and the scores were level with one ball remaining. As it stood, of the Aces got the run, they would win, if they didn’t, the game would have been decided by super over.

Unfortunately, the Aces got the run and won the match by 3 wickets.

This was a wonderful experience for all the players involved. We look forward to our next fixture against the Aces. We would also like to thank the fans for coming out to support our Vikings. The atmosphere at the ground was electric.

Next week we do it all again against Merlewood Country Club.

EMA Suidie Vikings vs the Aces.

Who will hold all the aces come Sunday afternoon? Come watch the match. It promises to be a cracker of a Cricket match.

Match report:

S.V.C.C. win by 9 wickets.

Wolves won the toss and chose to bat. The opening batsmen started quickly and punished any loose deliveries by the opening bowlers. Some good bowling saw our Vikings put the wolves to the sword and restricting them to 138 in twenty overs. Marko taking three wickets in his four overs, assisted by Jarred with two wickets respectively. Jaco and Hans had excellent economy rates, both bowling four overs each for just 17 runs.

Needing 139 to win, Charl and Jaco opened the batting. With the sweltering heat, playing cricket in mid-day proved difficult. Jaco and Charl made an opening stand of 27 runs, before Jaco fell. Rudi Smit stepped up and played an excellent innings, scoring 86 runs from just 43 deliveries. Charl played his role brilliantly ensuring a solid batting partnership with Rudi.
