Hi all. The Sards Nature Reserve is closed this weekend. That stretches from pipeline down to the beach.

Technically this would allow us to ride in the section between pipeline and the houses. However, you need to be aware that there is the danger of trees falling over due to waterlogged ground even with no wind.

If you are going to ride, you do so at your own risk. Please be responsible.

To a legend. Rest in peace Ray. No doubt you have found Blaze and are riding the fields up there, planning the next jump. You will be missed deeply. Condolences to the Lamerton family.

Hi everyone 👋

For our HORSE riders - Just a friendly reminder:

As we approach the high-use period (peak season, public holidays & long weekends) on our beautiful beach at Sardinia Bay Beach, please note and honour the access arrangements in place — they exist for the safety of all beach-users (horses, riders, swimmers, walkers, sun-bathers, families) and to ensure we keep riding privileges in place.

📌 Beach access rules reminder:

During the peak season (15 December to 15 January) and on Easter, public holidays and long weekends, riders may only access/exit the beach via “Secrets” (this is also dependent on electrical work occurring on pipeline).

At other times (outside peak season and when not a public holiday or long weekend), access is via “See Plakkies” or Secrets (no restriction).

Please remember to ride west of the access points when on the beach.

Always show your SBHRA tag and ensure you’re complying with all rules while on the reserves and beach system.

We’re seeing higher traffic on the beach and in the dunes at this time — more walkers, more families, more dogs, more general beach-use. So we really ask all riders to exercise extra caution: walk your horse past pedestrians or dogs if needed, keep to defined routes, be courteous and visible.

Thank you for your cooperation, and let’s continue to enjoy safe, respectful rides in our shared space.

Ride safe & enjoy!

SBHRA December & Beach Access.

*1. Show your tag OR have proof of day membership*
When a horse & rider is without a tag, the rider will be deemed not to be a member and in contravention of the RoD.

*2. REPORT*
Take note of any suspicious or abnormal activities and be careful! (Cooking fire, snare, vehicles, motorbikes, cattle, hunting dogs etc.) Report to a committee member asap.

*3. Repair & Remove(or report)*
It is the duty of every rider, when they damage a jump to turn back and repair said jump. It can be dangerous for the next horse. If you are unable please report this! Same goes with branches. Dismount and remove it. If it is too big please report to the committee.

*4. Do not CREATE new paths*
Golden rule!

*5. Rider etiquette*
Avoid conflict with all user groups. On any given day you may need to interact with cyclists, hikers, dog walkers, etc. Follow all general precautions about safe riding. If you have fewer horses in your group give way to those with more and move on swiftly.

Please view sbhra.net/rules to brush up on your knowledge.

Please take note of beach closure dates below.
Beach access is CLOSED between 14 December 2024 to 15 January 2025 at Seeplakkies and CLOSED on public holidays only at Secrets entrance. Please OBEY these rules so we can maintain our beach rides in the future. Please remember to keep AWAY from all users as far as possible and when in doubt - WALK. Do not gallop past other users should you find them on the western beach.

Have a Merry Christmas! 🎄
