GOOD LUCK TO OUR TONY VILJOEN TROOPS!
Good morning Achilleans,
This Sunday, a lovely contingent of Achilleans will be heading to East London for the Tony Viljoen Masters Marathon & Half Marathon. The race gets underway at 06:30, with the marathon following its famous point-to-point route towards Beacon Bay and finishing at the Beacon Bay Country Club. The marathon is also a Comrades and Two Oceans qualifier, so there may be a few people with more than just Sunday’s finish line in mind! 😉
Flying the royal blue and white flag over the 42.2km will be Mark Headbush, Palesa Headbush, Tremaine Wesson, Jenni Strobos, Crystal van Heerden, Nikki Moss, Wayne Mitchell, Theresa Lilis, Claire White, Liz Prins, and Graham Channon. And taking on the 21.1km is Zebra, Kenny Barwood. 🦓
To every one of you, safe travels to East London and back, and all the very best for Sunday. Run smart, trust the training, look after one another and, most importantly, have a JOL out there!
*And, learning from young Connor’s little away-race packing lesson last year - PLEASE pack BOTH running shoes. 👟+👟 😂*
While we're checking the kit bag:
* ASA licence number
* Age-category tags
* Race kit (royal blue or black bottoms only)
* BOTH shoes
And please remember to fuel properly during the race. An empty tank isn't taking anybody 21km or 42km — no matter how enthusiastic the driver is! 😜
Enjoy the kilometres and make some great memories along the way. We hope you all have the runs you are hoping for, but regardless of what that clock says at the end, wear that Achilles vest with pride and bring those smiles home.
