As we continue to celebrate Womenโ€™s Month, we recognise the work being done by Motherwell RFC to develop girlsโ€™ and womenโ€™s rugby in local communities.

The club is one of the few EPRU affiliated clubs with a mixed-gender membership. Its grassroots programme is helping young women overcome socio-economic challenges while giving them opportunities to excel on the rugby field.

Among its inspiring success stories is South Africa Under-20 captain Chuma Isaac, a former Motherwell High School learner and student at Nelson Mandela University. Raised in a single-parent household, Chumaโ€™s journey to leading her country is inspiring a new generation of girls to believe that their circumstances do not define their future.

SABC recently featured the club, tracing Chumaโ€™s journey from Motherwell to national captaincy and highlighting how its grassroots programme is creating rugby pathways for girls and women.

This yearโ€™s Youth Weeks marked a significant milestone for SA rugby, celebrating the depth of talent emerging across both the boys and girls game!

Letโ€™s take a look at some of the major highlights for Eastern Province Rugby Union.

The week also saw the selection of the first-ever SA Schoolโ€™s Girls team, representing an important moment in the continued growth of the womenโ€™s game ! โ™ฅ๏ธ๐Ÿ–ค

Eastern Province Rugby is proud to celebrate the 15 players whose performances during Youth Weeks earned national selection, including four boys and 11 girls. ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜

The province also congratulates Chuma Isaac, who has been named captain of the SA U20 team for the two-match series against the USA ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

Captaining your country is one of the highest honours and it reflects the leadership Chuma continues to show throughout her journey.

Chuma will lead the Junior Springbok Women against the USA U20 Women this Friday, 24 July at Paul Roos Markรถtter Stadium in Stellenbosch.
