Port Elizabeth Aikido and Japanese Sword The Port Elizabeth School of Aikido has been running for 30 years, and instruction is lead by founding member, Colin Beyers

Aikido is a traditional Japanese martial art that was developed by Morihei Ueshiba. Aikido in itself means -the way of harmonious energy-, and Ueshiba designed Aikido so that practitioners can defend themselves from harm while protecting the attacker from injury. By redirecting force instead of opposing it, Aikido requires very little physical strength, but rather a deep understanding of body move

ment, directional movement and momentum. Aikido employs the use of locks, pins and throws to negate and control attacks.

We were proud to participate once again in the Con•ect held at Fairview Sports Centre.

This time around we dressed up for the occasion and re-enacted scenes from Sh**un and Last Samurai.
