The jumps will be going out during the course of December and January for our eventers to get a bit of schooling in before the first show of the year in February at Woodridge.

DRESSAGE SA RULES - ACCURACY OF MARKERS

In a movement which must be carried out at a certain point of the arena, it should be done at the moment when the athlete’s body is above this point, except in transitions where the horse approaches the letter from a diagonal or perpendicular to the point where the letters are positioned. In this case, the transitions must be done when the horse’s nose reaches the track at the letter so that the horse is straight in the transition.

ESA have secured funding via the National Lottery Commission for a development project. Each province has the opportunity to benefit. The details of the funded project are as follows:
NLCSA PROJECTS Local Competitions and Trans & Development (R413 059.00)
Athletes’ transformation development programme
Domestic Competition: Entry fees transformation athletes
Transport for development athletes
A. Project description:
Our grooms are a fundamental element within our sport however due to circumstance they are largely outside the formal activities of ESA. This program aims to address this by creating mounted (ridden) and technical opportunities to our grooms. Each province will select 5 ESA member grooms/5 children of ESA member grooms and provide weekly riding lessons at their parents’ place of employ or nearest suitable riding school. Initially budget will be required for attire, lessons, transport and medical aid/Hospital plans for participants.
The desired outcome:
• Participants would be participating in ESA Development League (Challenge Series) and those with talent will be seen within the Schools League.
Please comment if you have grooms with children who might be able to take part so we can assess needs in this province. The funding is to be split across 7 provinces and works out at around R8 000 per approved participant.
