At the WSF AGM this week the Squash57 Commission proposed changes to the official Squash57 rules to add clarity around how foot-faulting should be handled/called by the marker. This improvement to the rules was requested during the year by 'you' (thank you) and was agreed unanimously at the AGM.
Below is the relevant text from the section DUTIES OF THE MARKER in what will be the updated rules:
The Marker must call "fault", "foot-fault", "not up"' "out" or "down", as appropriate.
First Serve:
- If the first serve is “out” or “down” the Marker must call it as such and the rally ends (hand out).
- If the server foot-faults the Marker must call "Foot-Fault, second serve".
- If the Receiver makes no attempt to return the serve then the Marker must confirm whether there has been a fault or not. If there has not been a fault the server wins the point. If there has been a fault then the Marker must call "Fault, second serve" and the Marker must repeat the score before the Server serves again.
Second Serve: in the event of a fault, the Marker must call "fault", "foot-fault", "out" or "down", as appropriate, and the rally ends (hand out).
