The Port Alfred Rock & Surf CLUB, affiliated to the Port Alfred River & Ski Boat Club, has been 'revived' after a few dormant years!

With a full calendar of angling events, our focus is on encouraging participation on a social and fun basis!

The Port Alfred Rock & Surf CLUB held its first AGM since reviving the Club in 2025.
Chairman, JJ French reported a very successful year with membership reaching over 90 members. Events and competitions were well supported by both anglers and sponsors. JJ expressed his appreciation to all sponsors and congratulated the prize winners with mention being made of the provincial and national achievements. The committee were thanked for all their support over the past year and the new committee, under the new Chairmanship of Darian Keeton, were wished every success for the coming season.

The first competition of the season will be sponsored by GBS Mutual Bank and will be fished on 19 September. Anyone interested in joining the Port Alfred Rock & Surf CLUB may contact the Secretary by emailing [email protected] for more information. All competition prize giving functions and social events are held at the Port Alfred River & Ski Boat Club.

The Port Alfred Rock & Surf CLUB has had a very successful angling season. However, without our sponsors this would not be possible. On behalf of the Chairman, Committee and all its members, we wish to thank our sponsors for their support and contribution to our success. Our competitions have been well supported, and anglers have appreciated the great prizes provided by our sponsors. We are looking forward to another successful year with the angling season starting on 1 September again.

The first Annual Prize Giving of the revived Port Alfred Rock & Surf CLUB was held on Friday, 14 August at the Port Alfred River & Ski Boat Club. The awarding and acknowledging of record catches, trophies and prizes was a good indication of a very productive and successful angling year.

The Species Competition fished yesterday and today wraps up this angling year before our Prize Giving in August.
Well done to the winners of the Species Compo!
1st: Michael Stylianou with 3 Species totalling 4,32kgs
2nd: Faanre de Klerk with 3 Species totalling 3,31kgs
3rd: Josh Burgess with 2 Species totalling 2,17kgs

We congratulate those anglers who were recently chosen to represent EP at the 2027 SASAA Nationals which will be fished in January.
Naude Pienaar (U16), Josh Burgess (U21), Heinrich Janse van Rensburg (Masters B) and Ethan Janse van Rensburg (Senior B) will be fishing in January 2027.
Monique Janse van Rensburg was selected to represent EP in the Ladies A team and Leatitia Laubscher in the Ladies B team. The ladies Nationals will be fished in February 2027.
Well done to our anglers! You have done us proud. We wish you all the best for the Nationals next year.

We also congratulate our Angling Week anglers (Darian Keeton, Heinrich Janse van Rensburg, Josh Burgess and Ethan Janse van Rensburg) on winning the Angling Week Cup - Edible Section, for the 6th consecutive year and to Darian for the overall winner of the Edible Section.
Congratulations also to Ethan for the individual winner of the winter league.

Well done to our anglers who fished the final round of the Round Robin Competition #9 which was fished along the Kleinemonde coast on 16 May. Despite rough seas the anglers still managed to reel in some good catches. Results will be posted shortly.

Well done to our anglers who fished the 8th Round Robin outing on 4th April from Kleinemonde to Fish River. The weather was great and many fish were recorded despite some anglers being away for the Easter weekend. Well done and thank you to those who attended the prize giving!

Congratulations Ilhaam Abrahams on being selected to fish for the 2026 President Development Team. The team will compete against Namibia in the Gus Kohlner Tournament in Jeffreys Bay in October 2026.

Well done to our ladies, Monique Janse van Rensburg and Laetitia Laubscher who fished the Ladies Nationals at Struisbaai recently.
Monique finished 12th and Laetitia finished in 16th position. Monique has also been selected to fish in the Gus Kohlner Tournament later this year against Namibia.
Eastern Province finished in 4th position and Border in 5th.
Well done ladies, you did us proud!
