Learning from the big stage

On 7 February 2026, some of our young players from Vuka Academy Football Club had the incredible opportunity to attend a live professional football match at Moses Mabhida Stadium.

They watched Orlando Pirates take on Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila in the Nedbank Cup Last 32 match, where Orlando Pirates won 4–1.

Beyond the excitement of the match, the experience gave our young players a chance to learn by observing professional football. They saw firsthand:
• The discipline and teamwork required at the highest level.
• How players communicate and support each other on the field.
• The intensity, positioning, and decision-making during a real match.
• The professional environment and atmosphere of a big stadium.

These moments help our players understand that talent must be supported by hard work, focus, and teamwork.

A special thank you to Coach Zuma and the supportive parents who made this experience possible for the children.

Here are our Top 5 Holiday Safety Tips to keep our young stars protected this summer:

1. Water Safety First – Always supervise kids around pools, beaches, and rivers. Teach them the basics of safe swimming and avoiding deep or rough water.

2. Stay Sun Smart – South African sun is strong. Use sunscreen, wear hats, stay hydrated, and avoid midday heat.

3. Stranger Awareness – Children should never wander off alone in public spaces or accept lifts/gifts from strangers.

4. Road & Traffic Safety – Whether walking or cycling, kids must stay visible, use pedestrian crossings, and avoid playing in the streets.

5. Fireworks & Braai Safety – Keep children far from fireworks and hot braai stands; accidents happen fast during festive gatherings.
