Get ready, MIDLANDS The prestigious Growthpoint Regional Hub is finally making its long-awaited return to Collegians this weekend! From Friday night at 5:30 PM through Sunday, we’re bringing you a weekend of world-class squash featuring five of SA’s top 20 men and the exciting return of the McDonald sisters.
Expect fireworks on court as our hometown heroes, Daryn Pieters and Justin Gouweloos, take on KZN’s inform Luke Bakke, Joburg Country Club's #1 Ethan Robinson, and the tournament’s "must-watch" double handed star: 19-year-old Drexel University standout and SA #3, Luhann Groenewald. Between the high-stakes singles and a doubles draw that promises an epic tussle between the Groenewalds, McGuigan & Meyer, Baldrey & Dewe and Harel & Marcus, this is a tournament you do not want to miss! A fantastic conclusion to the 2026 Sherriff's Cup Closed Championships! The finals held at Collegians this past Friday night delivered some exceptional squash and a wonderful atmosphere.
We are thrilled to announce our 2026 champions:

• Men’s A Section: Congratulations to Justin Gouweloos, who displayed incredible skill to retain his championship title.
• Ladies A Section: A massive congratulations to Makayla Naidoo on winning her very first Midlands Championship title.

Finally, we would like to extend a sincere thank you to all the players who participated, the supporters who cheered from the gallery, and our dedicated organizing team—Melanie De Wet, Pieter Pelser, and Dalmain Strydom—for their hard work in making this tournament a success. A huge thank you to Jackson’s Cleaning for their generous contribution toward the prize money for both our Men’s and Ladies’ A section winners. Your continuous support is deeply appreciated.

This is a friendly reminder to get your entries in for the upcoming Sherriff's Cup Closed Championships!

Due to popular demand, we have extended the entry deadline to 30th April. This gives you a little more time to secure your spot in the draw, so don't miss out on the action.

A huge thank you to the players who have already committed! We are seeing a great turnout so far, with Golf Club and Collegians currently leading the charge with the highest number of entries from a single club.

The Sherriff’s Cup is Back!

Good day Squash Players,

It is time for one of the most elite events on the Midlands Squash calendar. We are excited to announce a return to tradition: the Midlands Closed Championships will now revert to its original name—The Sherriff’s Cup Closed Championships.
It’s time to dust off your rackets and prepare for a week of high-stakes competition and great social vibes. Whether you are a seasoned pro or a rising talent, we want you on the court!

Tournament Details
• Date: 4- 8 May 2026
• Time: 5.30pm
• Venue: Various courts in PMB
• Cost: R200.00 per player
• Prizes: Cash prizes to be won

We are looking for players of all ages and skill levels to compete across various sections.
