So i just got back from a recent session at Sterkfontein Dam in the Free State, and what a tough but rewarding trip it turned out to be! Conditions were not easy at all — heavy pressure and challenging weather made it a proper grind, but we managed to make it count.

This combination definitely saved me from a blank
It produced:

Unfortunately, I also lost 3 proper fish on this setup — those heartbreak runs that keep you coming back! Big fish were definitely in the area.
💥 Combo 2 – The Barbel Setup
Feed:
Dazzled
Wiskunde
Hookbait:
SWG
Small worm as backing
This combo brought in:
🐟 3 Barbel buggest being 6.3kilos

The worm backing made a big difference here, especially with the fish being cautious in the tough conditions.

Spreading the rods across different distances helped locate active fish in the area, especially with the water and weather conditions being inconsistent.

Overall, a proper grind of a session at Sterkfontein — tough conditions, pressured water, but solid results and big fish moving through the area. We’ll definitely be back for revenge on those giants!

A recent trip to Albert Falls Dam delivered exactly what every angler hopes for. The conditions were near perfect, with overcast skies and occasional breaks of sunshine creating ideal feeding conditions throughout the session.
Fishing started at 15h00 and continued right through until 10h00 the following morning. From the outset, the fish were active and responding confidently to the bait presentations.
The following bait combinations accounted for all the action during the trip:
Spitfire(clove) & Tjop Tjop(pineapple)
Raptor(banana)& Loodewyk(raspberry mollasses)
Krismis(honey) & Raptor
For hook baits, Raptor Oozing and SWG Oozing proved to be deadly, producing consistent takes and a lot of fish throughout the session.
By the end of the trip, the final tally stood at an impressive 51 fish, consisting of both carp and tilapia — a truly rewarding result and a testament to the effectiveness of the bait choices and conditions on the day.
A big thank you goes out to R.chandus Tackle and Gas for always keeping fresh, quality bait, and to Signature Series for producing some of the best baits on the market. Their products once again delivered outstanding results on the bank.
Albert Falls continues to impress, and this session will definitely be one to remember.

So started 2026 with a decent start

We ended up fishing Albert falls dam
With the dam being like durban beachfront with so many people around making fishing ever so tough ,found a gap and just fished the spot.

I started the day at 85m and 95m and that distance stuck the whole day

Combos that worked for me
Spitfire and krismis
Plain hard and banana hard

Tjop tjop and raptor
Kiana hard

Kiana and bass plus
Raptor hard

Hello guys and girls
I havent posted in my page for a very long while but from now onwards and into the new year I shall be posting more often

We fished Albert falls and man it was one to remember

We had some tough conditions with the heat but we managed to get a decent bag ,lost a lot of fish due to the snags etc

Thanks to signature series dips and Floats that made us figure out the bigger fish at the end
