A wonderful testimony from Occupational Therapist, Jenny Miller, who bought some B4play balls and gave one to a stroke patient.
"Brian is 4-years post-stroke and has been attending Occupational Therapy for pain and tightness in his right foot, calf, right arm and shoulder. He has been attending therapy every second week, with stretches given to him to do. This did not however stop the tightness from recurring and each week he would arrive and we would start from scratch.
I gave him the ball to use on his foot and when he returned for his next therapy session was happier and had great range in his ankle, with more balance reactions. He then complained about tightness, spasms and pain in his shoulder and upper arm and I suggested to him that he try placing the ball on the bed and then rolling over the tight muscle. On his return 2 weeks later he was delighted with his 'amazing football'.
In his words: "Before I was not able to lift my right foot up onto my toes and I used to drag my foot a lot. I had a lot of pain in my calf. Also pain in my shoulder. NOW I can lift my foot up, forward and back and have no pain in my calf. I have better control in my foot. After lying on the ball and rolling on it the pain in my shoulder is also better and the spasms are gone."
