With magical climbs, high-speed gravel racing and world-class competition, the Garden Route Giro is set to become one of the most sought-after gravel stage races in the world. From rugged coastlines and lush indigenous forests to towering mountain passes, rolling farmlands, deep river valleys and the vast Karoo, riders will take on 684 kilometres of rewarding gravel across the iconic Garden Route.

Marketing text is always a little 'flowery', but based on the images and the write-up from this year's inaugural version of the GRG, it seems like the event lives up to the hype. If you need a little inspiration for an event to add to your bucket list in 2027, this should do the job!

At the , every rider arrives with a story — but some carry a little more weight.
Just three weeks before the start, Marius Hurter underwent heart surgery. Riding through the passes and towns of the Garden Route, and reaching the final finish line, meant far more than just another race.
