Let’s break it down…..
Well firstly we are not an open gym where you come in at any time and do whatever you like.
FFC offers a structured training program in class format and by appointment only. The program incorporates high intensity strength and conditioning training through the use of functional movements. Our training program is constantly varied to keep you on your toes and to make it interesting at all times. Following this program you will develop core stability by using muscles in the upper and lower body at the same time. Your body will be better prepared to perform everyday tasks like picking stuff up, moving things around and performing the daily tasks of living.
Furthermore you will develop core strength and better all-round fitness through metabolic and cardiovascular conditioning. In other words you will be better at whatever sport you currently partake in because whether you play Golf, Rugby, Tennis, ride your Mountain Bike, do Athletics or enjoy some lawn bowling...if your core is STRONGER and you FITTER you will perform BETTER in all of these activities.
You will be coached step by step to perform all our functional movements as well as more advanced strength and conditioning techniques that include Olympic weightlifting and gymnastics. Our coaches are well experienced and qualified to assist you with all aspects of your fitness journey in order to get you to where you want to be efficiently and safely.
How do I start and where do I sign-up?
You start by attending one of our ONRAMP / BEGINNERS CLASSES.
These classes are provided for new members only where we focus on all the foundational movements and program layout! You will be required to attend at least 4 of these classes before you slot in with the rest of the members and start booking your own classes at the available times. Once you become a member you will make use of our online booking system called “boxchamp” where you will book your sessions. At this point in time we have the option to book any of three classes in the morning Mon-Fri starting at 05:30 and three in the afternoon starting at 16:30.
The ONRAMP classes are on Tuesdays and Thursday from 18:30 - 19:30. All you bring with is yourself clothed in workout gear, sweat towel and something to drink. You will be required to pay a once-off signup/admin fee of R300 in cash when attending your first class. Once you've completed your four ONRAMP classes you need to choose a membership option that suits your pocket and schedule, sign the required contract and pay your first month's membership fees. Thereafter we work on a debit order system for the remaining term of your contract.

How Is It Different From CrossFit?
To be clear, functional fitness grew out of the CrossFit movement and is based on the same concept of moving away from machines that simulate exercise, but rather towards movements that involve the entire body “Functional Movements”. Like CrossFit, you'll be able to participate in High-Intensity Interval Training, but where we differ slightly is in our more relaxed environment that caters for athletes as well as beginners who just want to start living an active life style and lose weight. If you've found CrossFit to be too intense in the past with weightlifting workouts that seem like only Olympic athletes can do — then functional fitness might be for you.
