Every weekend on the fields of Mqandilu Ward 26, we watch raw talent that can compete anywhere. Our current players are fast, disciplined , and hungry, and for the last 10-15 years this ward has produced names that still get mentioned with pride. We even had years where Ward 26 hosted 3 or 4 tournaments in a single year โ the grounds were full, the community was alive, and the kids had something to play for. Now things have changed. Thereโs no Youth Tournament in June anymore, and itโs poor to watch that light fade out.
We have a squad right now that can stand and compete in the Hollywood SAB League, the Nomcamba Tournament, the Mpendulo Stoyile Big 8, and more. These are the platforms where scouts look and futures change. Give these players proper kits, transport, and registration, and youโll see Mqanduli representing with pride instead of watching from the sidelines. The players are ready. Whatโs missing is the backing to bring back that same energy we once had every year or season.
To the businessmen and professionals from our community: this is your call. Sponsor one squad for a season and you change 20 lives. Pair that with a small committee to manage funds transparently, create links to coaches and academies for trials, and demand discipline from the players in return. If we donโt act, another generation will grow up with talent but no chance. Donโt let it close again ๐
