These rare porpoises are being wiped out by destructive and illegal fishing. But a properly enforced marine reserve could save them from extinction. Send a message now!

Dive section report Sep 2014:

At the section meeting this month the conditions were unfortunately too poor to include a dive but not long (another month or so) and the conditions should be turning in our favor more often just as soon as the October storm has passed to signal the change of season.

It was discussed that the equipment that is to be brought onto club premises will be a great tool for attracting new membership to the section and the club as a whole, but will need to be controlled, used, and maintained in a responsible manner and that we will have to further discuss the details of funding the maintenance.

The equipment will be available to all dive section members excluding and commercial/professional members of the section and/or their associates unless special arrangements are made with the section.

We will also be doing special training for equipment maintenance and compressor use for the members.

The section will also be planning a dive trip to Aliwal Shoal for around April/May next year facilitated by Blue Wilderness diving who have offered us some special package deals.

Mossel Bay Tourism and South African Heritage and Recourses Association have communicated with us that they would like to work together with us in putting something together for marine week.

We plan to assist SAHRA in their part of the program and to showcase the St. Blaze Marine Monitoring Program that we facilitate through Mike Keet.
The date on the table at the moment is Saturday October 11th.
