πŸ‡ΏπŸ‡¦πŸ† The Blitzboks are world champions again!

And, because this is South Africa, they didn’t do it the easy way. Of course they didn’t. πŸ˜„

The Springbok Sevens side were crowned 2026 HSBC SVNS World Championship winners in Bordeaux, France, after a dramatic and nervy day that had just about everything: a pool defeat, a tense wait on other results, a rematch with Fiji, and then a two-point quarter-final win that sealed the title. πŸ’šπŸ’›

South Africa started their Bordeaux campaign with a tough 19-14 golden-point loss to Great Britain, then bounced back strongly with a 26-5 win over Kenya. On Saturday morning, they lost 15-12 to Fiji in their final pool game, which left them waiting anxiously to see whether they would even make the quarter-finals.

Then came the twist. New Zealand beat Argentina 24-21, which meant Argentina could no longer catch South Africa in the title race. The Blitzboks squeezed into the quarter-finals as one of the best third-placed teams, and suddenly they had another shot at Fiji. πŸ‘€

This time, they took it. Again. πŸ†πŸ‡ΏπŸ‡¦

They also add this World Championship to the overall HSBC SVNS Series title they had already won earlier in the season.

Well done, Blitzboks. You’ve made the country proud. πŸ’šπŸ’›πŸ‡ΏπŸ‡¦

Now to see if you can win this tournament as well. We'll be watching this afternoon.
