💛🖤 PDAC WEEKEND ROUND-UP 🖤💛

Congratulations to all our PDAC members who got out there and raced today! 👏

🏊‍♂️🚴‍♀️🏃‍♂️ A few of our members were chasing big dreams at Midmar, taking on the challenge of the Individual Ultra Triathlon — an incredible test of endurance and determination!

🏃‍♀️ We also had PDAC colours flying at the SAPS Striders 10km & 21km, with our members getting some good kilometres into the legs.

Well done to everyone who raced and proudly flew the black and yellow. 💛🖤

Another great weekend of athletics for PDAC, with our members taking to both the track and the road! 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️

🏟️ Track League – Kings Park

Saturday saw Michelle Sims taking on both the 1500m and 800m, while Jeanine La Febour competed in the 5000m Walk.

A fantastic start to the season for Jeanine, who came away with a new PB in the 5000m Walk! 🎉👏 What a great way to get the season underway.

🏃‍♀️ Hollywoodbets 10K & 5K

Today saw plenty of PDAC colours out on the road for the Hollywoodbets 10K & 5K.

A special congratulations to Sheree Kirsten, who claimed 🥉 3rd place in the Ladies 70+ age category! Fantastic running, Sheree. 👏

Well done to all our PDAC athletes who got out there this weekend — whether you were racing on the track, walking, chasing a PB, hitting the podium or simply enjoying the opportunity to compete. 💛🖤

💛🖤 KZN CROSS COUNTRY ATHLETE OF THE YEAR – MICHELLE SIMS🖤💛

What an incredibly proud evening for PDAC at the KZN Athletics 2025 Awards!

After being named as one of the three finalists, our very own Michelle Simswas announced as the 2025 KZN Female Cross Country Athlete of the Year. 🏆🌟

Anyone who follows Michelle’s running will know how deserving this recognition is. Her consistent performances and regular podium finishes speak for themselves, and she wears the PDAC colours with enormous pride. But this award gives us an opportunity to celebrate something that results alone don’t always show.

Michelle gives an extraordinary amount of her time and energy to athletics in KZN, particularly cross country. She is often there long before the racing begins, checking courses, assisting organisers, ensuring everything is in place and helping wherever she can. She’ll run alongside and encourage the youngest athletes in their races, support our juniors, and then somehow still line up for her own event and produce another outstanding performance.

That passion extends far beyond PDAC. Michelle genuinely wants KZN athletics and cross country to succeed, and so many athletes benefit from the hours of work she quietly puts in behind the scenes.

Michelle, we are incredibly proud of the athlete you are, but equally proud of everything you give back to the sport. Thank you for carrying the PDAC flag so proudly and for everything you do for our club, our athletes and our province. This recognition is so well deserved. 💛🖤

It was also a very proud moment for PDAC, with our club being named among the Top Three Clubs in KZN for 2025. Congratulations to Hollywoodbets Athletics Club, who were ultimately crowned Club of the Year. To have PDAC recognised amongst the final three is an achievement we can all celebrate. 👏

Thank you to Teresa, Wayne and June, who joined Michelle at the awards evening and represented PDAC on this special occasion. From all accounts, KZN Athletics put together a beautiful evening celebrating the people and performances across road running, track & field and cross country.

💛🖤 CELEBRATING OUR PDAC JUNIORS 🖤💛

We love seeing our young PDAC athletes taking their running beyond club events and representing their schools and province – and this weekend we had another fantastic achievement to celebrate.

Audrey van Gelder, just 15 years old, competed at the KZN Christian Schools Sports Association (CSSA) Championships, winning the combined U16/U18 3000m race overall, as well as taking 1st place in the U18 category. 🥇👏

Audrey also comfortably achieved the qualifying standard and has now earned the opportunity to represent KZN at the SA CSSA Championships at the end of September in Pietermaritzburg. What a fantastic achievement! 🌟

We are incredibly proud of Audrey and all our PDAC juniors who are putting in the work and taking every opportunity that comes their way. There are so many pathways within running – from club and cross-country events to school, provincial and national competition – and it’s wonderful for our younger athletes to see where their hard work can take them.

📣 And a little message to our junior parents: please keep us posted on your children’s running achievements! Just because they aren’t competing in a PDAC vest doesn’t mean we aren’t interested. Whether they’re representing their school, district, province or competing elsewhere, we want to celebrate them!

We have some incredibly talented young athletes within our club, and their achievements deserve to be recognised. 💛🖤

Well done, Audrey – and here’s to all our PDAC juniors continuing to grow, compete and enjoy this wonderful sport! 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️🌟
