Well, what a year this has been. I have been home for only one week since the middle of December and I am booked for most of the year up until the middle of November. I hope that all my cycling friends are keeping fit and healthy and looking after yourselves. It would be great to hear how you have all been.

Another interesting day coming up tomorrow. Riding the Ashton wine route tomorrow morning with a brucnch at Platform 62, and will hopefully bump into my good friend Leon Steenkamp.

Well it has been a busy time in th Langeberg. I have met some really special people and I am looking forward to riding with you again soon. I was even blessed with the most beautiful gift....a box that I can store my drink bottles in when I tour. It is even decorated with a bicycle on it.

What a strange month it has been, between writing my diabetes awareness blog, mapping MTB routes, even venturing back into a previous 'working background'. It involved me having to do the assessors course as I'm going to be doing some training in the dairy industry in between touring. I hope you all have a great December.

I thought I would do something different this week as November is Diabetes Awareness Month. I have been posting a daily information post on diabetes and just to have something from a new angle I thought you may find it interesting to know what diabetic athletes go through. So as from tomorrow I will post here as well. Stay safe out there my friends.

Good to see that the route markers for the Hills Challenge are all done. Its going to be a fun day in Montagu. I have the best job ever. I get to ride support for the 22km route. A backpack full of spares and me riding at the back and we make sure all the kids get home safely.

Anyone in the Montagu area who is keen for me to arrange a ride at the new MTB trails on the Rooiberg Conservancy please let me know, and if there is enough interest I will set up a time that suits the majority and we can have a family day of fun in the gravel. You can inbox me or post here in order for me to track who is keen. Stay safe out there.

If you want to put one ride on your calendar for next year, then make it the van Loveren Java Challenge. It has become a favourite of mine, over the last few years. The routes are all challenging but really rewarding. Plenty of climbing, fast descents, and well made single track. The goodie bags, and variety of food for all tastes was a welcome sight. Great coffee from Strictly Coffee as well. All in all I gave them 12/10 for a wonderful day.

The Langeberg District has no end of amazing trails. Yesterdays ride was the Saggy Stone route in the Rooiberg Conservancy. It consists of an S, M, L, and XL. We selected the L to get the feel of the area and were not dissapointed. Mostly single track with a few sections of jeep track. The flowers are in season and the tortoise are very active. Porcupine are very busy as can be seen by the holes in the roads and the tracks. We bumped into Adrian the trail builder as well who is still mapping and checking out the trails. All in all a great day out and really great trails.

Well it seems as though I will be forced to drink lots of coffee, stay indoors, and plot the current tracks onto a hard copy for the cartographer as it is now pouring with rain. I guess we need it though. Stay safe and enjoy the day :-D

A good weekends riding and exploring in McGregor coming up. I am looking forward to mapping two interesting routes for the McGregor MTB Trails brochure which should be ready by December.

Another great ride done and dusted. Explored the Rooiberg Cellar trails, and once again I wasn't disappointed by the route. These trails have an S, M, L, and XL. I did the L, and the mixture of farm roads and single track was a good blend for the above average rider. The start and permits are at the Rooiberg Cellar, where I also found good coffee and even better food. Stay safe out there my friends.
