Discover how to get kids excited about exercise through the Power of Play! Kids ages 6-12 need at least 60 minutes per day of moderate to vigorous activity to build strength, mobility, coordination, endurance, confidence & self-esteem and to promote optimal physical development. Muscle and bone strengthening exercises should be included at least 3 time per week. Examples of theses include running,

jumping, twisting, squatting, hinging and core exercises. Its perfectly OK if your kiddo's are not that interested in traditional sporting activities, I'm here to make sure they have alternative, FUN, and engaging ways to be active and stay active. Kids who learn to enjoy physical activity and exercise when young tent to stay active throughout their lives. With so many children these days not getting nearly enough physical activity and consequently not experiencing all the amazing benefits that come with living an active lifestyle, such stronger bodies, healthier mind, increased focus and attention
span, confidence, self-esteem, stronger immune system and the list goes on and on....

Increased levels of physical activity have significant effects in reducing depression, anxiety, psychological distress, and emotional disturbance in children.

These effects are equal for children who were obese/overweight and those who were of typical weight. However, some studies showed that girls benefit more than boys do when it comes to the effects of physical activity on their mental.

PHYSICAL LITERACY:
"the motivation, confidence, physical competence, knowledge and understanding to value and take responsibility for engagement in physical activities for life."

Canada's major stakeholders, organizations from the physical activity, public health, sport, physical education, and recreation sectors collaborated to create a physical literacy consensus definition and position statement for use by all Canadian organizations and individuals.
