My journey took an unexpected turn - 7 June marked 10 months since the operation after my accident at Junior Worlds in Egypt.
What followed was surgery, rehabilitation, setbacks, determination and countless hours of hard work. As part of my healing process, I wrote this song and today, I celebrate not only my recovery, but my qualification for the Junior World Championships 2026 in Canada.
Thank you to Dr Wim Hiddema, Adri Kotze Physiotherapist and FC du Toit Biokineticist for your expertise, guidance and unwavering support throughout this journey.
Thank you also to JP Brits, Craig van der Wath, Christo Potgieter, Hoërskool Zwartkop, Centurion Junior Squash, Western Rackets Squash Club, Pretoria Country Club Squash Club and Teuton for being patient with me and for your continued support.
Thank you for every message, prayer and support - for helping me believe I could be stronger.

Representing South Africa at Junior Worlds has always meant a great deal to me — especially after coming back from a serious injury last year that kept me off court for 6 months.
I’m incredibly grateful to once again have the opportunity to compete at the WSF Junior World Championships in Canada this year.
Should you feel it in your heart to support my journey, it would truly mean the world to me.

8 July @ Woodrock – conclusion of my charity project. For sure not the end of my journey with Woodrock but the beginning…
I was not quite prepared for what I was going to experience: More people saying no than yes, no responses to e-mails, empty promises. But then on the other hand, those who did respond, did it with passion.
And then on the day, I have never met a team of people who is so committed and dedicated to what they do – cleaning, feeding, caring, loving and so much more. I salute each and every employee at Woodrock for your compassion for the voiceless – you are giving selflessly.
To each and every one who supported my project, I THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart because without your contribution I would not have been able to achieve my self-set targets: 400kg Dog Food, 100kg Cat Food, 100 Kitten Food Pouches, 480kg Erograstis.
On the day I donated just over 1 ton of animal food.
Dad & Jean-Louis Brand, thank for supporting me. And Mom, for your motivation, helping out with some of the admin and for driving me around to collect all the donations.

As part of my journey in Hoërskool Zwartkop’s Mnr & Mej Zwarrie 2025 competition, I’ve chosen a cause close to my heart — supporting the amazing team and animals at Woodrock Animal Rescue in Hartbeespoort. 💙
They care for rescued dogs, cats, and farm animals, many of whom have been abandoned, abused, or neglected — and they need our help!
🚨 The shelter is in urgent need of:
🦴 Dog & cat pellets
🐾 Kitten food pouches
🛏 Blankets (new or gently used)
🧼 Pine gel & washing powder
☕ Tea, coffee, sugar, long-life milk (for 50+ hardworking staff)
I’ll also be spending a day (Wednesday, 2 July 2025) at the shelter helping out and spending time with the animals. If you or your business can donate items or funds, I would be so grateful!

What a Bells tournament and unforgettable morning with Western Racket members!
Thank you Western Rackets!
Every single contribution and message of support has filled me with gratitude and excitement. I feel so blessed to have such an amazing community rallying behind me as I prepare for the World Junior Squash Championships this July in Egypt.
Thanks to your support, I’m closer than ever to stepping onto the world stage and representing our country.
Your support goes beyond just funding my trip. It’s a vote of confidence that inspires me to train harder every day. With the goal of raising R65,000 to cover travel, accommodation, and other essential costs for the championships, every rand contributed is another step toward realizing this opportunity I’ve worked so hard to achieve. I promise I will give everything I have in Egypt and make you all proud.
Once again, thank you so much. I truly appreciate each person who believes in me and took the time to spend the morning with me.
