This week was the MAC Mountain Goats' moment to shine, with the epic Titanic Trail Race taking place in Clarens. This event is a highlight on the trail running calendar and the MAC pack braved the cold and wind to conquer this iconic race! Well done Riaan, Simone Lee , Carin Jonck, Lizanie Foster , Verity, Jenny, Mark Winterbottom , Samantha Winterbottom and foster kid Sara Jane Nolan 👏

We concluded the Cross Country season with the ASA Cross Country Championships on Saturday. Curro Hazeldean delivered a challenging course and our athletes report that they thoroughly enjoyed the experience despite the weather. Congratulations to all our athletes who were chosen to represent AVT: Hein, Charlene, Patrick, Danie, Kagiso, Zanele, Lukas, Etienne and Derek. We are so proud of your progression this season and can't wait to see what you deliver next year!

Earlier in the week we were up to our usual shenanigans with a spicy track session at Hoërskool Dr Malan, and after TT on Thursday we had a relaxed braai to celebrate the arrival of spring 🌷

On Friday morning the dedicated Fit Friday squad once again crushed a pre-sunrise 5km and celebrated with some hot drinks from Platō Coffee Meyerton ☕️🏃🏼‍♂️🏃🏻‍♀️🥵

We also had loads of international runs this week, Nadia Van Rensburg conquered Hong Kong, Fiona Lamont laid claim to the island of Reunion and Ivan did the 15km Kalumbila Race in Zambia where he also crushed a PR! 🥳 Keep your eye on the FB page for an updated list of our MAC Around The World Challenge. 🌍

Despite the wind and rain, Tavis Pienaar and Juanita Visser took on the PPT Round and round the garden at Rietvlei Trails, a backyard ultra style circuit race. You guys are awesome. Shoutout to the volunteer crew from Drumblade parkrun who also had a team at the event 🙌

Astrid ventured to Harties for the Vulture Run and some serious elevation.

We have officially survived winter ❄️ and we can already see more activity around our MAC neighborhoods.

Speed work was at Cross Road where Pierre Swanepoel had us doing hill repeats.

Time trial saw a significant increase in members joining to enjoy the warmer 🔥weather and the sun ☀️ setting later.

Friday morning saw the Fit Friday crew out early morning from Platō Coffee Meyerton.

Om Saturday there was an early run from Platō Meyerton before everyone split off to do various different park runs.

The MAC crew showed up for Drumblade Park Run's 8th birthday 🎂 🎈 🎉

Nicky did the Womandla race on Saturday and Lehlohonolo organised a long run from Meyerton Park Run.

This morning Juanita and co did a long run from the Circus 🎪.

A number of Maccers joined the 32GI Big South Run hunting for Hills.

Astrid, Fiona, Lizet, Bernice and Natasha tackled a trail run at Cradle Moon.

Join us this week for all our normal weekly runs but take note, we are back to a 17:30 start for Time Trial on Thursdays. See you there.

We did it! Our Fit Friday squad made it through winter, consistently braving the cold dark mornings and resisting the temptation to hit the snooze button! 💙🏃🏻‍♀️🏃🏼‍♂️☕️

Tomorrow Platō Coffee Meyerton hosts the PlatōxUSN Run Club, join us at 06h30 💪💙

Fit Friday is back next week at 5h30am, show up with a Spring in your step 😉🌸

The weekly wrap showcased smiles all round brought on by the lovely weather! Spring is in the air and we could not be more delighted!

Tuesdays Speedwork was well attended and as tough as what it is, we know that this type of training is what builds strength and character! We thank Pierre Swanepoel for always showing up and making sure everyone is giving their best!

Its great to see more and more youngsters showing up for the Thursday Time trials from the Henley Bowling club. Everyone is welcome and we encourage all to come and give the TT a spin!

We kick started the weekend with the Fit Friday crew who have been growing in size since starting at the beginning of winter. I believe the warmer weather could see more runners joining these brave souls.

The weekend was jam packed once again! We had MAC runners entering and running various races including Clearwater mall run (were Samantha Prokopiou received 4th place) Well done Samantha 👏 Some runners also headed to Mpumalanga to complete Middleburg's Cross the line run! crew were encourgaging runners and doggies alike at the Basslake Doggie walk. We also had a very Proud Tsika representing MAC in Scotland at the Run NL North Lanarkshire half marathon! How amazing 👏 MAC are here, there and everywhere💙

Sundays runs included Absa run series which saw 10km PR's from both Ivan and Yolandi! The Wendelstadt sisters had a delightful Versus out and back run and got some gorgeous socks for their effort 💪

Back home, the Sunday Goosie run gave some runners Goosebumps! Probably from both the thrill of running so early and the thrill of delicious coffee afterwards! A few runners were coaxed by Pierre into a not so "Plat" Platkoppie offroad run. The beautiful scenery was definitely worth it and we look forward to more scenic runs like this.

Lastly, a huge congratulations to both Minki and Jana Lotter who both came 2nd in their categories at the Albristo 21km in George, Cape Town. This was Minki's first run in Nedbank Colours! We are so proud of both of them!

Come and join in the fun at Bass Lake this Saturday for the Annual doggie walk and expo. Entrance is free but donations are appreciated. All monies raised will go to Vaalpets and Hermes Haven! 3.5km, 5km and 7km route options available to walk or run!
