Drama addresses humanity and it tells us about ourselves and others. It explore and express human feeling and behaviour. Acting involves a broad range of skills including a well-developed imagination, emotional facility, physical expressiveness, vocal projection, clarity of speech, and the ability to interpret drama. The goal of acting is to portray another individual as honest and authentically as possible. “Acting is the ability to live truthfully under imaginary circumstances.” Sanford Meisner. Through our syllabus, students learn the following techniques:
• The Method acting Principles of Stanislavsky and other practitioners.
• Voice training in the Estille Voice Training Method.
• The neutral mask, mime and movement techniques.
• Improvisation techniques according to specialists like Johnson.
• Stage techniques and Performance skills.
• Communication skills and Public speaking
We enter our students for the Eisteddfod, The SA Championships of the Performing Arts (SAATME) and for LAMDA exams if they would like to participate. Drama has power and Drama is performance. Get AhEAD with the Annette Engelbrecht Academy of Drama.
