The Final Charge
The day had already delivered success. Early that morning, a magnificent kudu bull was taken high in the rocky peaks, setting the tone for what would become an unforgettable safari.
After a well-earned lunch and with plenty of daylight still ahead, the team headed back into the bush, eager to see what other adventures Africa had in store.
It wasn’t long before they found a beautiful blue wildebeest bull. A perfect stalk, a steady shot, and soon the first bull was down. Photos were taken, handshakes exchanged, and spirits were high.
With the adrenaline still pumping, they set off once again and quickly found another mature wildebeest bull. Two well-placed shots struck their mark, and the bull collapsed.
Confident the hunt was over, the team approached. Then, with only a few yards separating them, the bull exploded back to his feet and launched into a full charge.
In a split second, the calm of the African bush turned to chaos. A 9mm barked twice—one shot finding its mark between the eyes, the other anchoring the bull for good.
Hearts raced, dust settled, and nervous laughter filled the air. What started as another successful afternoon had become a once-in-a-lifetime encounter. A reminder that in Africa, the hunt is never truly over until the very last moment.
A final charge. A story that will be told around campfires for years to come.
