Cold starts? No problem ❄️

Some Saturday mornings call for a little extra. The parkrun parkwrap is a soft, lightweight buff that goes with you from the car park to the finish line, and keeps going long after.

Wear it as a neck warmer, headband, beanie, or face cover. However the morning calls for it, the parkwrap adapts. Seamless, breathable, moisture-wicking, and quick-drying, it works as hard as you do, without the fuss.

Machine washable. No ironing needed. Just grab and go. And every purchase helps keep parkrun free, forever!

Sun, Community, and Milestones: Rose parkrun Event #314

A crisp but beautifully warm winter morning greeted 163 energetic participants at Rose parkrun, Lenasia, for Event #314 on Saturday, 13 June 2026. The ideal weather set the perfect stage for a morning filled with camaraderie, personal achievements, and community spirit.
Among the field was a fantastic mix of local regulars, enthusiastic newcomers scanning the barcode for the very first time, and visiting tourists. Embodying the true global spirit of parkrun, tourist Jacob Rocca not only joined the event but also generously stepped up to volunteer as today’s Tailwalker, ensuring every single participant made it home safely and with a smile.

Part of Global History: 1 Million Events Worldwide
What made this Saturday truly historic was that Rose parkrun was part of a massive global celebration. This weekend, the international parkrun community officially celebrated its 1 millionth event worldwide! From its humble beginnings with just 13 runners in a London park back in 2004, parkrun has grown into a global phenomenon, and the Lenasia community proudly added its energy to this incredible milestone.

Special Milestones to Celebrate
The heartbeat of Rose parkrun relies heavily on dedication, and this week, two incredible milestones took center stage:
• Yusuf Sarwan reached an extraordinary milestone, completing his 300th parkrun! Achieving 300 runs requires years of consistency and dedication, and the community is immensely proud of this massive achievement.
• The beloved "Uncle" Ismail Coovadia celebrated his 200th parkrun. Uncle Ismail is a cornerstone of the event, having dedicated many of those events to volunteering as a parkwalker, keeping others motivated and moving.

Chasing the Ultimate Up-Run: Comrades 2026
With the ultimate human race just around the corner, there was an undeniable buzz of athletic excitement in the air.

Rose parkrun paused to extend its warmest wishes and a massive "good luck" to all the local athletes heading to KwaZulu-Natal. The entire community is rallying behind the runners from the Lenasia Athletic Club (LAC), as well as the dedicated Rose parkrun regulars who are taking on the grueling Comrades Marathon 2026.

"Whether you are chasing a medal or simply aiming to conquer the distance, the spirit of Lenasia is running right there with you!"

Thank you to all the phenomenal volunteers who made Event #314 possible. See you all next Saturday, same time, same place—bring a friend along!

The Comrades Marathon is just 18 parkruns back-to-back.

Every runner knows the mental trick of breaking a long run down. You do not think about the finish line 80+ kilometres away. You think about the next tree, the next water station, or the next hill.

If you have ever completed a Saturday morning 5km, you already know exactly what it takes to finish a fraction of the Ultimate Human Race. When the distance feels overwhelming, stop looking at the massive total on your watch. Just focus on banking the 5km right in front of you, dust yourself off, and start the next one.

How do you mentally tackle your long runs? Let us know your favourite mind games in the comments!

parkrun is where future Comrades Marathon runners often discover their love for endurance sport. 🏃‍♂️✨

Every legend starts somewhere. For many, that ultimate 85.77km journey from Durban to Pietermaritzburg begins with a simple, friendly 5km on a Saturday morning.
Whether you are chasing a personal best or just enjoying the community spirit, parkrun builds the consistency, grit, and passion needed to tackle The Ultimate Human Race.

Best of luck to our Lenasia Athletic Club and parkrunners who will be at this year's Comrades Marathon.

Frosty Mornings and Warm Hearts: Rose parkrun’s Winter Beanie Run Draws a Crowd

The winter chill was no match for the community spirit in Lenasia this Saturday morning. Despite a cold and frosty start, a vibrant crowd of 103 participants laced up their running shoes and gathered at Rose parkrun for a special Winter Beanie Run.

The course was ablaze with color as parkrunners and walkers donned their favorite, coziest beanies to brave the elements, bringing plenty of warmth and good cheer to the chilly morning.

Welcoming New Faces
The crisp weather didn't deter newcomers or visitors. The Rose parkrun family was delighted to welcome several first-timers stepping out for their very first parkrun, alongside a fantastic group of tourists who traveled to experience Lenasia’s famous hospitality.

Celebrating Our Volunteering Heroes
The true heartbeat of parkrun is its volunteers, and this week featured two incredible milestones. A massive round of applause and congratulations go to:

Jaysheel Rathod, who celebrated his 25th volunteer milestone, consistently bringing dedication and energy to the team.

Farrah Adams, who reached her remarkable 50th volunteer milestone. Farrah is a familiar and reassuring face on the course, frequently ensuring everyone makes it home safely in her role as the Tail Walker.

A huge thank you to all the volunteers who braved the frost to make this event possible, and to every participant who brought their energy (and their beanies!) to the park.

See you next Saturday—don't forget your barcode!
